Veteran puppeteer Carroll Spinney, who plays the avian character, portrays a Riggan-like character who is haunted by the voice of his alter ego in 'Big Birdman'.

AceShowbiz - Just in time for the Academy Awards, "Sesame Street" parodied Oscar-nominated "Birdman". Sesame Workshop has released a video titled "Big Birdman" starring Big Bird and the man behind the avian costume, Carroll Spinney.

In the clip, the 81-year-old puppeteer plays a Riggan-like character who is haunted by the voice of his alter ego. "How many different ways can you learn the alphabet? Lots apparently. Maybe we should have done that Raymond Carver play," Big Bird tells him as he walks on the street. "How did we get here? How did we get to Sesame Street?"

According to the video's caption, "Big Birdman" is a story of "a veteran puppeteer, who plays an avian icon, battles his ego and attempts to find his way back to a certain furry and friendly street."

"Birdman" itself is competing in nine categories at the upcoming 87th annual Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, and Best Actor for Michael Keaton. The ceremony will be held this coming Sunday, February 22 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles and air live on ABC starting from 5:30 P.M. PST. Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting.
