Following a report that Johnson is in talks to voice a demigod in the upcoming Disney animated movie, the star takes to Twitter to say that he's 'excited' to take part in the project.

AceShowbiz - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has confirmed that he is set to take part in Disney's new animated flick "Moana". Following report that he's in talk to voice a demigod in the upcoming movie, Johnson took to Twitter on Wednesday, December 3 to confirm the news, writing, "Excited to star as 'Maui' in Disney's next big animated musical, MOANA. Incredible story! **clears throat #TimeToSing."

"Moana", which is set in ancient Pacific, tells the story of a girl who sets sail in search of a fabled island. In her journey, the titular character works with demigod Maui, voiced by Johnson. The flick is directed by Ron Clements and John Musker and is set to hit theaters in 2016.

The actress who takes the role of Moana, meanwhile, is not yet announced. According to 3News, CNA Casting which is based in Auckland is "overwhelmed" with responses as they hold an open call for Kiwi girls between 14 and 18 who have strong singing voice as a part of global audition for the role. The submission is closed on Saturday.
