The 'Gravity' actor joins Hugh Bonneville, Lily James and other cast members of the British period drama in a charity holiday special.

AceShowbiz - A few months ago, there were reports that George Clooney was on the set of "Downton Abbey" to film a holiday charity special and now a first look at the actor in the sketch has been made available. ITV has released a brief snippet and two set photos featuring the star and director of "The Monuments Men".

In the 19-second clip, Clooney is informed that he is invited for dinner by Lord and Lady Carlisle. The pictures, meanwhile, feature the 53-year-old Hollywood hunk posing with Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Grantham on "Downton Abbey", with a decorated Christmas tree in the background.

Clooney plays an American guest at a wedding held on the Crawley estate in the ITV telethon sketch, "Text Santa", which encourages U.K. residents to donate to good causes. It will air December 19 in the U.K. and is expected to make its way out in the U.S. before the January 4 premiere of the drama's fifth season.

Bonneville who starred in "The Monuments Men" recently said of Clooney's guest appearance in the holiday special, "He came and filmed with us for an afternoon back in May when we were doing this 'Text Santa' sketch and he was incredibly generous with his time and his talent."

"It's interesting the number of people who suddenly come on set who'd never been on set in five years of filming. He was great - he was a good laugh and sprinkled some sort of magic dust over our experience."
