'Modern Family' Star Ed O'Neill Helps Fund Traficant Movie

The 'Married... with Children' actor offers a chance to have a lunch with him and signed prizes for fans who contribute to the crowd-funding.

AceShowbiz - Actor Ed O'Neill, who is popular for his roles on "Modern Family" and "Married... with Children" among others, is helping fund a documentary about the late congressman Jim Traficant. The actor, who is a native of Ohio, offers a chance to have a lunch with him for people who pledge $2,500 or more. They will also get co-producer credit.

People who pledge $1,000 will get signed books, artwork and other items, The Plain Dealer of Cleveland reports. In addition to lending his name, O'Neill was interviewed in the movie and provides narration.

Filmmaker Eric Murphy said that the documentary "Traficant: Congressman of Crimetown" needed $17,500 to finish the production. It is for scoring, archival licensing fees and distribution costs among others. He has some time until November 23 to raise the money with the crowd-funding campaign. So far, he has received $9,805 from 49 people.

Traficant passed away in September at the age of 73 following an accident involving an old tractor on his family farm near Youngstown.
