TNT to Turn Mark Wahlberg's 'Shooter' Into Drama Series
TV

Paramount TV teams up with the actor for a small-screen adaptation of the 2007 conspiracy thriller.

AceShowbiz - Mark Wahlberg's "Shooter" is heading to television. Paramount TV and the actor who starred in the action film are teaming up to develop a TV drama series based on the 2007 conspiracy thriller directed by Antoine Fuqua for TNT.

John Hlavin ("Underworld: Awakening", "The Shield") is on board as writer for the project, with Wahlberg and his frequent collaborator Stephen Levinson set to executive produce the drama. Other details are not available but it's very unlikely that Wahlberg will reprise his role for the small-screen version. If the cable channel greenlights the pilot, it may begin production in 2015.

The original movie itself was based on the novel "Point of Impact" by Stephen Hunter. The story focused on a former U.S. Marine Scout Sniper, Bob Lee Swagger (Wahlberg), who is framed for murder by a rogue secret private military company unit.

"Shooter" is the latest movie from Paramount TV's feature catalog that is turned into TV series. The company has previously sold a "School of Rock" TV adaptation to Nickelodeon, a "Shutter Island" series to HBO, and most recently a small-screen version of "Minority Report" to FOX.
