The crime thriller directed by 'Lawless' helmer John Hillcoat will depict an attempted murder of a cop to draw police away from a big heist across the town.
"Triple Nine" is looking to bring together a killer cast ensemble. The Wrap reports Casey Affleck ("Out of the Furnace"), Chiwetel Ejiofor ("12 Years a Slave"), and Michael B. Jordan ("Fruitvale Station") are in talks to star in the upcoming crime thriller.
Scripted by Matt Cook, the story focuses on a group of thieves who plan to murder a cop in order to divert the authorities away from the heist they will be doing on the other side of town. John Hillcoat ("The Road", "Lawless (2012)") is set to direct the movie.
Affleck is courted to play the targeted police, a role initially to given Charlie Hunnam. Ejiofor is expected to play the mastermind behind the robbery, and Jordan is eyed to play a bad cop who works with the thieves and sets up Affleck's character.
Oscar winners Cate Blanchett and Christoph Waltz were also previously in talks to join the crime thriller.
