The 'Burlesque' actress believes the holiday celebrates the crime of stealing land from Native Americans.

AceShowbiz - Cher doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving. In fact, the 67-year-old singer/songwriter blasts the holiday tradition on Twitter, "I DON'T! 4 me & my Family,it's a day,When every1 is free 4Diner & a movie,Not 2 celebrate the beginning of a GREAT Crime."

When one of her followers asked her to elaborate what she meant with the "crime," the mother of two quickly explained, "Stealing Land, from a ppl,Who believed,Owning LAND Was LIke Owning SKY! We gave them Blankets laced w/Smallpox."

Cher whose real name is Cherilyn Sarkisian has Cherokee ancestry from her mother's side. She apparently believes Thanksgiving celebrates the day the settlers stole from Native Americans who had no concept of property and infected them with smallpox.

Despite her opposition to the holiday, Cher wished her friends a happy day on November 28. "2 My Crew, I Hope Tomm.is a Glorious day 4 ALL OF U. Remember..A Kind Word,Gesture,Or Compliment, can make ANY1'S DAY! THANX4BeingThere4Me," so she wrote.
