With the fifth installment in the "Bourne" film series being developed at Universal Pictures and having not found its director yet, Twitch reported earlier today that the franchise's original star Matt Damon would most likely take part since director Paul Greengrass, the only man Damon is interested to work with in "Bourne" pic, entered talks along with Damon himself to return. As interesting as it sounds, the report is unfortunately not true.

Sources close with the studio shut down the rumor, telling Variety that "there is nothing going on between the studio and Damon and Greengrass." That leaves Jeremy Renner and scribe Anthony Peckham as the ones, as of now, confirmed being involved in the upcoming installment. Renner will reprise role as the CIA agent Aaron Cross.

Damon did not appear as the principal character in "The Bourne Legacy", which introduces Renner as the lead instead, after learning that Greengrass was not invited back to serve behind the lens in the fourth movie. "I've always been open to it as long as Paul Greengrass directs, I don't think he's going to do it," he said in an interview.

Though it lost Damon, "Bourne Legacy", directed by Tony Gilroy, still managed to perform well at the box office.
