Meanwhile, the first trailer for the thunder god film will be released via iTunes on April 23.
Marvel Studio hypes its upcoming film "Thor: The Dark World" with the release of the first poster for the Nordic superhero film. The image captures Chris Hemsworth's Thor wielding his famous hammer Mjolnir with his intimidating look while being surrounded by some lightning.
Marvel president of production Kevin Feige reveals that the poster is taken from a typical shooting day of the second installment of "Thor" film series. "It's rare that you have a poster that is just Chris Hemsworth shooting on the set," says Feige.
Feige admits that the poster does not require many details to give a very striking impression. "But he [Hemsworth] just looks like Thor. We just put in some lightning, and he's got his hammer and you're there. It's just an incredibly striking image," he adds. "It doesn't get much badder than Chris Hemsworth as Thor."
Following the release of the first poster, the second Thor film will debut its first trailer via iTunes on April 23. "I can confirm that the teaser for #ThorDarkWorld will arrive next week! Much more info soon!" tweets Ryan Penagos, the executive editorial director of Marvel Digital Group.
"The Dark World" will find Thor fighting against a militant ancient race called the Dark Elves, which is led by Malekith the Accursed. Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins and Kat Dennings are some of the original members that return to the second film, reprising their respective roles.
Additionally, the film features newcomers Zachary Levi as Frandal and Christopher Ecclestion as the film's villain. The Alan Taylor-directed film is slated to hit U.S. theaters on November 8.
