Narrated by Tobey Maguire's Nick Carraway, the new preview highlights the relationship between Leonardo DiCaprio's Jay Gatsby and Carey Mulligan's Daisy.
Warner Bros. Pictures has debuted a new trailer for "The Great Gatsby". Narrated by Nick Carraway, the video has very little scenes featuring the would-be writer portrayed by Tobey Maguire as it focuses on Jay Gatsby's romantic relationship with Daisy. A glimpse of Gatsby's seemingly dark secret is also shared, as the video shares more scenes of Daisy's husband, Tom Buchanan.
The vibrant visuals are made more dramatic with the song accompanying it. Beyonce Knowles and Andre 3000's (Andre Benjamin) collaboration for "Back to Black" cover, Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful", as well as Florence and the Machine's "Over the Love" are teased in the film's latest sneak peek.
Adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, "The Great Gatsby" follows Fitzgerald-like writer Nick Carraway who chases his own American Dream. He lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan.
It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.
Baz Luhrmann directs the drama film, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Jason Clarke and more in the cast ensemble. It will hit 3D theaters in the U.S. starting May 10 and will be screened at the Grand Theatre Lumiere of the Palais des Festivals as the opening of the 66th edition of Cannes Film Festival on May 15.
