CBS Denies Airing F-Bomb During Jack White's Grammy Performance

The former White Stripes vocalist appeared to drop the swear word during his performance of 'Love Interruption', but the network insists the word sung was 'fight.'

Another live TV show might enrage the Parents Television Council (PTC). After the TV watchdog group blasted CBS for airing profanity during its Super Bowl XLVII telecast, the Eye allegedly aired an f-bomb during the live broadcast of 2013 Grammy Awards.

After Jack White performed "Love Interruption" with Ruby Amanfu at the Sunday, February 10 show, many viewers took to Twitter to point out that the rock singer dropped the swear word. He was believed to be adding the word to the song during the live performance since the original lyrics doesn't include profanity.

However, Martin Franks, executive vp planning, policy and government affairs at CBS, is adamant that it wasn't the case. He says the word that was sung was "fight" instead of "f**k me" as some people claimed to have heard.

"We had 10 editors, and three people on site, and all are experienced, all with multiple Grammy, multiple 'Big Brother', multiple Tony experience, experience with doing these delays," he tells The Hollywood Reporter. "They went through all of the rehearsals. They have prepared meticulously. And not a single one of them heard anything other than 'fight.' "

The network was so confident that it was "fight," that it didn't edit it for later broadcast on the West Coast. Unfortunately, video of the said performance has been made available officially for people to evaluate it.
