One Direction has extended their help to U.K. charity Comic Relief by covering the Blondie classic "One Way or Another" as the official 2013 Red Nose Day Charity single. The boys - Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles - have released a cute cover art for their new recording as well as an eight-and-a-half teaser clip of the boys rehearsing onstage during their Team 1D Japan Party gig, providing Directioners a sneak peek into their new track.
"We are really excited to be part of Red Nose Day this year," Horan spoke on behalf of the group. "We recorded Blondie's 'One Way or Another' and we really want the song to raise lots of money and for people to show their support by going out and buying themselves a copy."
"One Way or Another" is part of the Red Nose Day CD that will be available for sales starting February 18. Sales from the record will help support the life-changing projects of Comic Relief. 1D is set to perform the song at the Brit Awards on February 20.
Red Nose Day is a bi-annual fundraising event organized by Comic Relief that takes place this year on March 15, its 25th anniversary. Launched in 1985, it first aimed to make the public laugh with celebrity sketches and routines to raise funds for the then famine-stricken Ethiopia. It has since become a charity telethon, a fundraising activity of the very best comics and entertainers in the U.K., and one of the biggest charity events in the U.K.
