"How I Met Your Mother" is preparing a star-studded episode to mark the fourth and final installment of the Robin Sparkles saga. James Van Der Beek and a number of Canadian guest stars, including Jason Priestley, Alan Thicke, Alex Trebek, K.D. Lang, Paul Shaffer and Luc Robitaille are billed for an upcoming episode titled "P.S. I Love You".
To air February 4, the said outing will mark the return of Robin Scherbatsky's (Cobie Smulders) pop star alter ego. Executive producer Carter Bays dishes that the latest chapter in the pop singer's saga will show off "a little bit of a darker, edgier Robin Sparkles" as viewers learn "what dominoes had to fall to get her from there" to who she is today.
Thicke, Trebek and Van Der Beek have previously appeared on the CBS series in a Robin Sparkles-centric episode. Thicke and Trebek played themselves, while the "Dawson's Creek" alum portrayed Simon, Robin's first boyfriend. As for Priestley, Lang, Shaffer and Robitaille, it will be their first time on the show.
"HIMYM" will return with new episodes of its eighth season following the winter break on January 14.
