'Twilight Zone' to be Revived by Bryan Singer

CBS TV Studios is in the very early stages to develop the new version of the classic TV series.

A new version of the classic TV series "The Twilight Zone" is in the works with CBS TV Studios at the helm of the development of the modern-day revival. While there are no writers yet and no network is set yet for the new edition of the TV classic, science-fiction "X-Men" director Bryan Singer has been tagged as the show's executive producer, exciting expectant fans of the popular sci-fi series.

The original 1959-64 edition of "The Twilight Zone", created and hosted by Rod Serling, is considered as one of the best shows of all time. Succeeding editions of the show, the '80's revamp from 1985-1989 and the short-lived UPN revival from 2002, however, have struggled to keep audiences.

Given that CBS Studios produces content only for CBS, which aired the original show, it seems likely that CBS will again be the home of the Twilight Zone's new version. A revival of "The Twilight Zone" seems to be very timely as sci-fi and horror series like AMC's "The Walking Dead" and NBC's "Revolution" are delivering big ratings.

A movie version of "The Twilight Zone" with by Warner Bros. with actor Leonardo DiCaprio as executive producer has been indefinitely shelved. The film's storyline will be about a test pilot who returns to Earth after an experimental flight, only to discover that he's already 96 years into the future.
