He was due to meet the troops and their family in Alaska on December 10 but he had fever and was throwing up.
Nelly came under fire when he canceled a meet and greet with the troops at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska on Saturday, December 10. The rapper had to back out of the event because he was too sick after his Friday show.
A lot of his fans were disappointed of his no-show with one posting a photo on Facebook of the troops sitting and waiting for him. The caption says, "A few of the hundred, or so, military and their spouses (some who have their significant other deployed) on Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Alaska, that you stood up. Not cool!!!"
One of the soldiers tweeted, "how about the fact that @Nelly_Mo never showed up to the meet and greet today on base...how about that for supporting the troops!" and Nelly replied to him, "maybe bcuzz my temp said 102 n I threw up everything I ate for the past week!I'm sorry I luv n will always support!!salute." The soldier then wished him well, revealing that they were never informed about his reason to bail.
Nelly further apologized via Twitter, "I apologize 2all the troops and fam 2day n anchorage!been fighting off flu 4fewdays n it caught up2me!after my show sweating n going out!"
