Amy Winehouse's Toxicology Report In: No Illegal Drugs Found

Amy Winehouse

The lab work supported Amy's father's statement that the singer was clear off drugs at the time of death.

Amy Winehouse's spokesman announced the results of toxicology tests which were conducted after the singer died last month at the age of 27. They showed that there were no illegal drugs found inside her system but alcohol was. However, it cannot be said a hundred percent that alcohol played a part in her death.

"Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy's system at the time of her death," the statement read. "Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death."

The statement continued, "The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October." The inquest was opened in July and is due to resume on October 26 in London.

Amy's father Mitch previously said that his daughter was off drugs for three years before death. She was also in three weeks abstinence from alcohol and was not depressed at the time of death. "She was the happiest she has been for years," Mitch told Us Weekly.
