Names which are invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have been revealed. The 178 artists and film-industry workers who have been handed an invitation include Beyonce Knowles, Russell Brand and Jesse Eisenberg.

Husband and wife David Duchovny and Tea Leoni are also in the list along with Gerard Butler, Mila Kunis, Bradley Cooper and Ellen Page. People behind the scene include "The Kids Are All Right" writer-director Lisa Cholodenko, "The Social Network" writer Aaron Sorkin and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

Meanwhile, documentarian Tim Hetherington, who was nominated for an Oscar this year and then murdered while filming in Libya two months after the ceremony, is given a post-houmous invitation to join the academy. The film academy has just under 6,000 voting members since 2003.

"These individuals are among the best filmmakers working in the industry today," said Academy President Tom Sherak. "Their talent and creativity have entertained moviegoers around the world, and I welcome each of them to our ranks." To find out who else are on the list, head to Oscars.org.
