Within hours after the first report that Ashton Kutcher is touted to replace Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men", CBS gives a press release to confirm the news. The "Punk'd" pioneer who started his career on television as one of the stars of "That '70s Show" is to join the ninth season production which begins this summer for fall premiere.

"I can't wait to get to work with this ridiculously talented 2.5 team and I believe we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers' homes," said Kutcher. "I can't replace Charlie Sheen but I'm going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people!"

Creator Chuck Lorre who infamously got into a feud with Sheen said, "We are so lucky to have someone as talented, joyful and just plain remarkable as Ashton joining our family. Added to that is the deep sigh of relief knowing that our family stays together. If I was any happier, it'd be illegal."

It is not disclosed whether Kutcher will portray a new character or slip in the role of Sheen's Charlie Harper. The deal was reportedly signed on Thursday, May 13 evening. According to Wall Street Journal, Kutcher may get around $1 million per episode but it is unclear whether that figure includes any share in the back-end profits from reruns of the program.
