Sum 41's Deryck Whibley 'Slipped a Disc in His Back', to Continue Performing on Friday

Despite his condition after being attacked by three people in a bar in Japan, the frontman has decided to play along with the band at Summersonic Music Festival in Osaka on Friday, August 6.

AceShowbiz - Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley has undergone an MRI scan during his hospitalization in Japan after being attacked by three people in a bar on late Thursday, August 5. And despite his injuries, the ex-husband of Avril Lavigne is determined to still perform for the band's Friday show.

On their Facebook page on Friday, August 6, Sum 41 updated Deryck's condition, writing "After an MRI scan, it appears Deryck has slipped a disc in his back once again." The band continued, "Despite doctor's instructions, he has decided to play today's show at Summersonic regardless. Sum 41 will perform at 3:40 P.M."

Deryck was assaulted by three unidentified assailants in the bar brawl in the Far East country. Sum 41 broke the incident on their Twitter page, posting a message read "Deryck Whibley was attacked in a bar last night by 3 unknown people. He is in the hospital now. Japanese police are looking into the matter."

"It is unfortunate to say, but Deryck Whibley is still in the hospital. He was attacked late last night in Japan," Sum 41, who are due to take to the stage at the Summersonic Music Festival in Osaka, further shared Deryck's condition on their Facebook page. "We are waiting for results and we are hoping for the best. Thanks for your support."
