AceShowbiz - Stephen Gately, one of the two lead singers in the boyband Boyzone, passed away on Saturday, October 10. He was 33 years old. According to the announcement made on the band's official site, Stephen "tragically died" while on holiday, with his partner Andrew Cowles, in Majorca, Spain.

Fellow band members Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, and Shane Lynch have expressed their loss on the same post. They said, "We are completely devastated by the loss of our friend and brother, Stephen. We have shared such wonderful times together over the years and were all looking forward to sharing many more."

"Stephen was a beautiful person in both body and spirit. He lit up our lives and those of the many friends he had all over the world. Our love and sympathy go out to Andrew and Stephen's family. We love you and will miss you forever, 'Steo'." Stephen's cause of death is yet to be made official by authorities, but News of the World has reported the music star died after having a few drinks. "It looks like he went out for a few drinks, then got back, fell asleep and never woke up," the newspaper quoted an unnamed friend of the singer as saying.

In the meantime, Gerald Kean, a family friend of Stephen, said Sunday, October 11, the singer died of natural causes. "There's no foul play involved, and it's not suicide. It's just a tragic accident is what we've been told, and we're happy that that is correct information," Gerald said. "There is nothing untoward. It's not drugs, we don't believe. It's not suicide. It's not murder. It's not a fight. That's what we've been told." Still according to Gerald, an autopsy was expected to be conducted Tuesday, October 13.
