Featurette for Neill Blomkamp's 'District 9' Released
Movie

This newly-released video for 'District 9' features a look into the making of the movie, commentary from those involved and many new and unseen footage.

AceShowbiz - The first featurette for sci-fi movie "District 9" has made its way out. Providing a peek to the behind-the-scene footage, the featurette also gives out many never-before-seen snippets, which feature the Wikus van der Merwe character portrayed by Sharlto Copley.

The featurette also contains parts of interviews with Copley as well as some of the crew, including director Neill Blomkamp. In the video, the filmmaker claims that the difference of this movie with other alien films is that in "District 9", the aliens who come to the Earth are homeless and their life are rough.

Copley, meanwhile, describes his character van der Merwe as a person who is assigned to move the aliens from a slum area to another zone. In addition to commentary from Blomkamp and Copley, producer Peter Jackson shares his take on the story, stating that the aliens in the movie should be evicted from the District 9 before it is exploded.

Based on short film "Alive in Joburg", "District 9" revolves around aliens that come to the Earth as refugees. Instead of finding a place to regenerate, the extraterrestrial race are forced to live in slum-like conditions in a makeshift home in South Africa's District 9. Called the 'Non-Humans', they now have to work the Multi National United company (MNU).

As tension between the aliens and the humans builds up, an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe, contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable, for he is the key to unlock the secrets of alien technology. Taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa, the movie is set to be released on August 14.
