Taylor Swift will perform 'You Belong With Me', Muse will sing new single 'Uprising', and Russell Brand will make a hosting job at 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift has been booked to take the stage at the 26th annual MTV Video Music Awards. The country music singer is plotted to deliver a new version of her single called "You Belong With Me" at the event.

"I'm so excited that MTV and the VMAs have invited me to perform, because I think this year's show will be unlike anything they've ever done!" Taylor says of her excitement. "I love incorporating theatrics into my performances, and the VMAs have always allowed artists to run with that. MTV has been so good to me. And I could not be more excited about this year's VMAs."

As for the awards' host, Russell Brand is once again billed for the job. The comedian who made media headlines after making fun at Jonas Brothers' purity rings at 2008 MTV VMAs also feels excited about the upcoming show. He gushes, "I'm feeling a series of joyful twitches and spasms beginning at the tips of my tiny toes and traveling up in glorious ways throughout my body as I begin to accept that I am the MTV VMA host again."

On whether or not he will set another controversy this year, Russell promises, "You have my word as an Englishman that there will be no controversy this year." He adds, "It will be controversy-free."

However, fans will still be treated with an outrageous show as Russell already thought about some ideas to surpass Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno / Eminem incident at 2009 MTV Movie Awards in May. "It's going to be difficult, but having worked with P. Diddy, I am pretty sure I can negotiate a situation where he breastfeeds me live at the podium, 'Unlawful Acts' is the heading of the show. 'VMA 2009: Unlawful Acts.' That's what we're going to call it," he states.

In addition to Taylor Swift and Russell Brand, English alternative rock band Muse have also been tapped to support the annual awards. They are confirmed to debut their new single "Uprising" which comes from their upcoming September release "The Resistance" at the show.

2009 MTV Movie Awards will be held on September 9 at 9 P.M. ET. It will take over New York City's most iconic locations, including Radio City Music Hall. Its nominees, presenters and additional performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
