The first trailer of "The Informant!" has just been released. Coming out via Apple, the trailer takes a look at the dark comedy thriller dubbed to be "based on true story" and presents Matt Damon as Mark Whitacre, a rising star at agri-industry giant Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) who suddenly turns whistleblower.
Envisioning himself to be hailed as a hero of the common man and handed a promotion, Whitacre exposes his company's multi-national price-fixing conspiracy to the FBI. But, before he can claim the status he needs to provide the agency with evidences. So, he agrees to wear a wire and carry a hidden tape recorder in his briefcase. Unfortunately, his struggle with bipolar disorder frustrates the federal agents and threatens the case against ADM.
Chronicling the mid-1990s lysine price-fixing conspiracy case, "The Informant!" is made based on a nonfiction thriller book written by journalist Kurt Eichenwald. It is directed by the helmer of "Erin Brockovich" and the "Ocean's Eleven" series, Steven Soderbergh, and penned by "The Bourne Ultimatum" scribe Scott Z. Burns. October 9 will be the date this comedy thriller hitting the U.S. theaters.
