Leonardo DiCaprio stars as U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels who travels to Shutter Island to investigate the disappearance of a patient from a hospital for the criminally insane, and finds himself trapped.
The first official trailer for Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island" has been uncovered. Debuted via Apple, the promotional video provides the first look into Leonardo DiCaprio's Teddy Daniels, Mark Ruffalo's Chuck Aule, Michelle Williams' Dolores Chanal and Ben Kingsley's Dr. John Cawley.
Kicked off with a capture of a boat sneaking out from behind the white mist curtain, the trailer explains that two U.S. Marshal have been summoned to Shutter Island, a small island in Massachusetts' Outer Harbor which becomes the home of Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane, after a female prisoner escaped without any logical explanation. As the two delve deeper into their investigation, they begin to believe that they may never leave the island because someone is trying to drive them insane.
Based on Dennis Lehane's 2003 novel, "Shutter Island" gets Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese behind the lens with "Alexander" screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis providing the script. In addition to Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Michelle Williams and Ben Kingsley, the cast ensemble also consist of Emily Mortimer, Max von Sydow, Jackie Earle Haley and Patricia Clarkson. The thriller mystery will hit the big screen across the U.S. on October 2.
