"American Idol" reigning champion David Cook posts a message on his MySpace blog to reach out to his overzealous fans, warning them to give him space and little privacy. In the message, titled "ATTENTION!", the singer writes, "We pride ourselves on being accessible to you as fans, but in contrast, we do enjoy what little privacy we can muster. To that end, the efforts by some fans to find our hotel rooms, call our hotel rooms, attach things to our bus, etc., is something I have to condemn."
"This relationship only works when it remains healthy for both parties, and should this behavior continue, the only thing we can do is take more preventative measures to maintain our privacy, which in turn makes us less accessible to you," David continues. He then concludes, "I hope this doesn't come off as harsh. I merely want to nip this in the bud so we can continue to have a great experience with all of you at the shows we have coming up. Take care and see you at the next show."
David Cook, who is the winner of "American Idol" season 7, is currently on the road, headlining a tour dubbed "The Declaration Tour," which was kicked off on February 13 in Tallahassee, Florida. Post winning the singing competition, he has released an album, "David Cook".

just because they wanted a music career, doesnt mean they deserve to be "stalked". Paparazzi and overzealous fans take it too far. Stalking and whatnot is never ok, i dont care who you are. There is a healthy way to be a fan, what these ridiculous fans and paparazzi do is obsurd and dangerous. Perhaps you all would feel differently if some crazy stalker fan found Mr. Cooks hotel room and went too far. Just because someone asks for a little privacy, doesnt mean they are selfish. He is referring to those crazy people that could endanger his life. Crazy fans can result in a dangerous situation.
ya i totall agree. he'd love ireland, famous people ere live really pivate lives.
Guys, I completely understand the need for privacy, but the fact is, he wants fans to come to his concerts and buy his albums, but then BOOM he wants nothing to do with the fans. It's selfish and wrong. Don't think they're innocent. Stars. He competed to become the American Idol. He wanted that. He wants fans to love him enough for him to get his money and fame. Then he complains. Stars fully know what to expect. It's absurd to act surprised and irritated. Ehhh whatever. lol. People, find someone who isn't a hypocrit. Devote your time(if you choose to do that)to being obsessed with stars who are honest, and selfless, and welcoming. You, as megafans, who pay his salary, deserve it. And this has nothing to do with anything or anyone but his asinine views. Take care everyone. Rock with your heart. Not your wallet Angel
I think he has every right to ask everyone to give him a little space. People should not be stalking him. He is a really down to earth guy and enjoys having some privacy just like you and I do.
