Audio of David Cook's New Song 'Light On'

Titled "Light On", the song is co-written by Chris Cornell of Audioslave and includes deep lyrics, saying, "Try to leave a light on when I'm gone/Something I rely on to get home."
David's not-yet-titled debut album is due for release on November 18 under the courtesy of 19 Recordings/RCA Records. It will likely include co-writing credits from Collective Soul's Ed Roland, Our Lady Peace's Raine Maida, and Kara DioGuardi.
David Cook Confirms New LP Release Date

The upcoming LP will be produced by Rob Cavallo and will likely include Ed Roland of Collective Soul, Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace, and Kara DioGuardi as the co-writers for his new materials.
Commenting on the album, David says that he is still keen of working on rock music. "The music is rock and it's pretty undeniably me, which I'm pretty excited about," he states. "There's gonna be some interesting twists and turns ... that will keep people interested."

David said that his taste of music just fits Rob's. Therefore, he thinks that they will be a good team. In a statement, he said, "I think he's a great producer with the kind of sound that I want. And in talking to him, he's just a good guy. Like the song selection I had on the show, Rob just fit."
From 20 singles that are expected to be in the album, David has finished 7 of them. He said that the songs represent his character as a rock singer. David schedules to release the album in mid-November.
'Gossip Girl' Wins Six Teen Choice TV Awards

Dominating the TV nominations with a total of 14 nods, CW's teen drama "Gossip Girl" leads the pack, winning 6 awards all at once. In addition to winning the Choice TV Show Drama award, the series also seizes the Choice TV Breakout Show award.
Its cast, meanwhile, also bring home several awards. Blake Lively is a double winner, taking home the awards for both Choice TV Actress Drama and Choice TV Breakout Star Female categories. The Choice TV Breakout Star Male is given to Chace Crawford. Ed Westwick wins the Choice TV Villain award, thanks to his role of Chuck Bass.
Hollywod Celebs Sign on to Lend a Helping Hand for Cancer Telethon

Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, and Charlize Theron are just some of the public figures who have agreed to lend a helping hand for the project.
They will be joined by fellow celebs, including American Idol champion David Cook, Christina Applegate, Meryl Streep, Sally Field, Lance Armstrong, Josh Brolin, Casey Affleck, and America Ferrera, all of whom have signed on to help work the phonebank during an upcoming benefit for Stand Up to Cancer, slated for September 5 later this year. The event will be simultaneously aired on ABC, CBS and NBC to raise money for cancer research and treatment.

In the interview David revealed that he is aiming to record about 20 tracks and so far he has already finished 7 songs. "I think we've for sure got seven songs. We're gonna try to get to around 20 I think, and work it out from there," David said.
Skechers Signs American Idol David Cook as Its New Spokesmodel

Announcing their partnership Wednesday, July 9, Skechers confirmed they will use Cook's image to advertise its line of casual footwear, including the new styles which according to the company "will reflect his personality, interests and appeal." Cook will begin appearing in a fall campaign to coincide with the release of his first post-Idol album on 19 Recordings/RCA Records and the continuing of American Idols Live! Tour 2008.

Both David Archuleta and David Cook seem set to compete in making and selling new albums, after Archuleta has followed Cook's footsteps and signed with the same record label as his rocker buddy which is 19 Recordings.
Commenting about the record deal Archuleta told the press, "Signing a record contract with 19 Recordings/ Jive Records is truly a dream come true. Being a fan of 'American Idol' since season one and admiring the alumni, I am honored and humbled to be a part of that group. I'm really excited to start working on everything." Not only "The Time of My Life" other three songs that he sang on this week Idol's final on May 20 also listed on the top four downloads at iTunes. The songs are, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", "Dream Big" and "The World I Know".
David Cook Crowned Winner of American Idol

David Cook successfully sucked in a larger number of votes than David Archuletta, a 17-year-old Utah native. Cook took the winning, which was announced on Wednesday, May 21, with a weep and disbelief.
Host Ryan Seacrest said that the votes for Cook and Archuleta was not even close. The finale drew in a total of 97.5 million votes from phone lines and text but Cook himself owns 56 per cent of it while Archuleta took the remaining 44 per cent.

May 21, 2008 10:05:48The battle of the Davids on the seventh season of American Idol has been officially grinding since last night (May 20) when the two last-standing contestants showcased their final efforts in winning the love from American people. The finale of the show was aired on FOX at 8:00 P.M., presenting David Cook and David Archuleta on Nokia Theater's stage taking three rounds each and here is the report.
The first round was picked by Sony BMG producer and music mogul, Clive Davis, who opted U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" for Cook and Elton John's "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" for Archuleta. Feedbacks from the judges were surprisingly different from expectation when the acid-tongue judge Simon Cowell who had predicted Cook's win, said "Round 1 goes to David Archuleta." Other judge Randy Jackson said that Archuleta's performance was one of the best in the season while Paula Abdul preferred to speak in metaphor by saying "the sun is never going to go down on you!" On the other side, Simon commented on Cook's performance as "tense" and "emotional".
Syesha Voted Off, American Idol Prepares Battle of the Davids

The singer who was a waitress before the Idol stint, delivered her rendition of Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You" that was judge Randy Jackson's choice, Peggy Lee's "Fever" as her own choice and Gia Farrell's "Hit Me Up" as producer's choice.
7th Season American Idol Top Three Announced

At the result show on May 7 the competition has shown the exit door for another contestant Jason Castro, leaving the likes of David Archuleta, David Cook and Syesha Mercado on the top three.
Jason received the lowest vote following his poor performance at the Idols night on Tuesday, May 6. On that day he sang two songs, Bob Marley's "I Shoot the Sherrif" and Bob Dylan's "Mr Tambourine Man". It was in the second song when he really messed it up as he forgot the lyrics of it.
