Fox Searchlight Pictures have presented the first sneak peek into the drama movie "The Secret Life of Bees" through the release of its first trailer. Exposing the line of talented cast ensemble, including Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys and Sophie Okonedo, the footage displays the heart-warming clips of a girl's journey in finding her identity in her tortured life.
Lily Owens is a fourteen-year-old girl living in Tiburon, South Carolina in 1964. Escaping from her abusive father, she brings along her fierce-hearted but caring African American caregiver, Rosaleen Daise who has insulted the town's racists. When she finally finds a place to hide at the bees and honey's world of the Boatwrights sisters, she is up for something more than hiding.
Based on the 2002 bestselling novel by Sue Monk Kidd, "Secret Life" is adapted and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Before it is released in theaters on October 17, it will be screened first at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival in September.

I loved the movie.jennifer alicia queen sophie and dakota fit the movie great.
Why in 2008 is Hollywood making yet another movie about grown black women/mammies taking care of some white child whose parent(s) can't do their job? This nonsense and racist fantasy crap has to end! Let's have movies about real everyday people of all races!
I enjoyed the book......can't wait for the movie.... Queen Latifah is the perfect choice to play August.....
They HAD to get an actress with depth and breadth of character to play Rosaleen -- Jennifer Hudson will breath fresh air into the role. She will be GREAT! Remember, no movie is exactly like the book ... screenwriters have a tough job! BTW, I absolutely LOVED the book!!!!! I just hope they can somehow incorporate the magic of the bees message into the film. I can't WAIT to see it!!!!
I'm so disappointed! How could they cast Jennifer Hudson as Rosaleen? I read the book and don't think she represents the Rosaleen character at all! What a shame.
