It's official, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have tied the knot at their home in Beverly Hills, California, on Saturday night, August 16. A spokesperson for both DeGeneres and Portia exclusively told People later that day, "Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were married tonight in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles." Adding another celebrity wedding to the books for the year 2008, the same sex couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony attended by about 20 guests that included their mothers Betty and Margaret Rogers.
The newlyweds wore ensembles by Zac Posen and traded rings by Neil Lane, People reports. Portia, 35, wore a backless, light pink dress and her hair was pulled up loosely. DeGeneres, 50, on the other hand, wore white pants, a button-up shirt and a vest. L.A. florist Mark's Garden helped with the decoration.
US Weekly, which also obtains some other details of the wedding, quoted a witness as saying, "Ellen and Portia came out and posed for pictures with Ellen's mom and their two dogs" adding that the lesbian couple "were hugging and kissing, and looked ecstatic. Ellen was helping Portia with the train of her dress, which looked like a Cinderella tutu."
The eyewitness went on revealing that Ellen and Portia "were both laughing" and could be seen walking "all over the lawn together holding hands and posing. The whole afternoon seemed light-hearted."
No official confirmation has been made by either Portia or Ellen on their wedding, but the nuptials do not come as a surprise. After the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriages in May, Ellen publicly announced during a taping for her talk show "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that she would wed Portia, whom she's been dating since 2004. Preparation has been made at the couple's home since Friday morning, August 15.
