Rumored to star as Thomas Magnum in "Magnum P.I." back in January 2007, the leading man to several romantic comedy movies Matthew McConaughey apparently couldn't brisk off the speculation. According to Entertainment Weekly, the 38-year-old star has once again been offered with the role popularized by Tom Selleck.

The site further noted that the co-star of Kate Hudson in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and "Fool's Gold" has done the script reading and will hear about the decision soon. If he nails the part, McConaughey will portray the famous former Navy Seal turned reluctant private investigator who resides in Oahu, Hawaii.

"P.I." is an action adventure film from director/scribbler Rawson Marshall Thurber. The film is adapted from the hit '80s television series of the same title. Aside from McConaughey, other theps that are being rumored to be appearing in the movie version include Steve Zahn, Tyrese Gibson and William H. Macy.

Puh-leeeeese! Leave it alone. Some things are better left in their original, perfect condition. Haven't we already learned that movies from TV shows DO NOT live up to the series that came before? 'Magnum, PI' is iconic and should be left alone.
