'Fool's Gold' Kicked 'Hannah Montana' From Top Domestic Box Office
February 11, 2008 01:02:40The twice on-screen pair, Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, once more worked their magic on the moviegoers as they again charmed the audiences to boost their latest romantic comedy "Fool's Gold" into the top spot at the three-day weekend domestic box office. According to studio estimation ended Sunday, February 10, the Warner Bros' film struck rich by stacking an estimated $22 million from 3,125 theaters in its debut on the box office.
The Andy Tennant directed-film grossed a little short from the opening sales of the two stars' first hit romance "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" which got $23.8 million. With Valentine's Day is coming around the corner, the Warners' Vice President of distribution Jeff Goldstein remained positive that the film about divorced couple who reunite to discover the 18th century treasure lost at sea will draw more moviegoers throughout the romantic event. "Love is in this air," the executive commented "This movie is light entertainment, and we need that. There's too much reality out there."

Deadly Jellyfish Causes "Fool's Gold" Delay
March 29, 2007 02:03:42Production on Warner Bros. Pictures' romantic adventure flick "Fool's Gold" has unexpectedly come to a halt for this time being due to the spread of a deadly species of jellyfish along Australia's coastline where the picture is getting filmed.
UK's Telegraph reports that Dr. Jamie Seymour of James Cook University claimed to find five of the animals off Queensland's Fraser Island known as Irukandji jellyfish, which are noticed to be among the world's most toxic creatures. You people kidding me?....I didn't laugh once the whole movie. It was another typical McConaughey movie but only worst. How to lose a guy in 10 days was a great movie and actually funny this on the other hand just plain sucked.

As with the other readers, I also found this movie extremely entertaining. To me (and the group I watched it with), it had everything we expected and more. Hudson and McConaughey were fantastic together and completely believable (as they were in "How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days"). Their natural chemistry added together with the long-suffering wealthy father of a loveably ditzy wayward daughter, the rapper-gansta and his minions, crew of the yacht and other characters blended together in one of the most beautiful locations in the world and you can't help but enjoy the ride! It is exactly what movies of this genre are supposed to be - a brief escape from the stress of everyday life into a beautiful, wacky fantasy world complete with eye candy for all! Bravo!

I agree with the other comments. I believed this movie was incredible. It may not be epic and grand like most other movies that have been coming out, but I have to say that this movie was definitely worth my time. Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are an excellent couple together. First in How to Lose A Guy In 10 Days and now in Fools Gold. They have excellent chemistry and I dont think that any other couple could have ever pulled it off like they did. Whoever casted for Fools Gold has my gratitude. I hope we can see them in action again soon. I also wanted to say that when i read various peoples reviews of this movie on other sites, they mostly commented on how many times Matthew appeared shirtless and how this movie was an excuse to do so. I completely disagree. Hes young, Hes hot, Hes sexy, and i Definitely dont mind spending 2 hours watching him walk around topless and tan. Overall I give this lovable little romantic comedy a 5/5
