"Half Nelson" star Ryan Gosling is set to direct "The Lord's Resistance Army" based on his own script.
Taking a leap to stand behind the camera, Ryan Gosling is about to direct an indie drama feature titled "The Lord's Resistance Army" of which script he wrote while raising the fund needed for production.
Focusing on child soldiers in Africa, the project is intended by the actor to feature cast consisting of non-pros and child soldiers, whom he has helped find in East Africa. Production schedule has not yet been revealed though.
Gosling, who is also an accomplished jazz guitarist, initially ventured into show business singing at local talent shows before joined the Mickey Mouse Club, through which his career started to take off. He recently received an Academy Award nomination in best actor category for his role in "Half Nelson."
