Veteran rock act David Bowie, blues pioneer Robert Johnson and late comedian Richard Pryor are among artists set to receive lifetime achievement honors at the 48th annual Grammy Awards which will be held next month.
Also tapped to receive the same honor among others are rockers Cream, country singer-songwriter Merle Haggard, opera vocalist Jessye Norman and '50s folk quartet The Weavers.
To note, the awards are aimed to recognize artistic contributions in the recording medium over a lifetime. About that Recording Academy President Neil Portnow said "This year's honorees are a prestigious group of diverse and influential creators who have contributed some of the most distinguished and influential recordings."
