David Bowie Chips in TV Series 'Heroes' Soundtrack
February 28, 2008 03:02:35David Bowie is taking part in the soundtrack to TV series "Heroes". The rock singer who has not released an original material since 2003 is contributing his 1977 single of the same title to the CD which will be available physically via Best Buy on March 18 and digitally via Zune.
Meanwhile, Bob Dylan is also among the contributors, lending "Man in the Long Black Coat" that appeared on his 1989 album, "Oh Mercy". The singer who is notoriously strict in licensing his singles decided to give the permission to the song because the show's producer Allan Arkush and creator Tim Kring has worked with Dylan in another TV series "Crossing Jordan".
Former Rocker David Bowie Negotiating to Star in Musical Comedy Film
February 01, 2008 04:02:14Former rock singer David Bowie is said to be in talks with Summit Entertainment to play alongside the cast of comedy musical "Will (2009)". Variety reported that 61-year-old multi-talented artist may be joining the already-signed ensemble, including Lisa Kudrow, Vanessa Hudgens, Liam Aiken and Scott Porter.
Co-scripted by Todd Graff and Josh Cagan, "Will" centers on a high school outcast and a popular girl who form an unlikely bond through their shared love of music. Assembling a like-minded crew of misfits, they then form a rock group to perform in their school's battle of the bands competition. The film produced by Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Marisa Yeres and Ron Schmidt is slated for 2009 release.

Monthly men's magazine GQ has made public its list of the Most Stylish Men and surprisingly it includes a few surprises.
Among the notable figures in the entertainment industry make the magazine's list of 50 Most Stylish Men in the Past 50 Years are the Academy Award nominated Italian film actor Marcello Mastroianni, musicians David Bowie and Bob Dylan, and actors Steve McQueen and George Clooney.

A soundtrack to biopic "Kurt Cobain About a Son" features songs from R.E.M., The Vaselines, Iggy Pop and David Bowie, some musicians in great influence to Kurt. The compilation, which also receives a composition by Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard, will be distributed via Barsuk on September 11.
The soundtrack is the following of the film that has gone premiere in 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. Containing Kurt's previously unreleased audiotaped interviews, the 96 minutes film will also be released on theaters and in DVD version in the fourth quarter of this year.

Poison Reveals Cover Album Tracks

An important detail is coming up from glam metal band Poison's newest album "Poison'd!". The album that offers a selection of classic rock tune covers has revealed its heavily anticipated tracklisting. The 13 tracks are ranging from David Bowie's "Suffragete City" up to Grand Funk Railroad's "We're An American Band".
On January 3, the band posted on their official My Space page that they need the help from fans to pick songs for the album. Some suggested the band covering Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird," Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz," and AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long". None of the songs was included in the record along with the obvious suggestion of Alice Cooper's "Poison." The band however kept Sweet and Alice Cooper in mind and decided to do their other songs.

The fine art, philopsohy and literature addict David Bowie is busy tying artists to appear at the High Line Festival. Among the performers that he had successfully bagged are band Arcade Fire, comedian Ricky Gervais, duo Air, rock band Deerhoof, 3 piece band Secret Machines and symphonic rock band The Polyphonic Spree.
The lineups will perform on the festival starting from May 9-19 at venues near High Line, Manhattan. Beside them, there will be many other various acts such as film, visual art and performance.

Intended to take a sabbatical this year, David Bowie at last couldn't resist the temptation to create something for music. He couldn't stand doing nothing at home and so will curate the inaugural High Line Festival, which will be held next May in New York.
It is said that Bowie will first of all play a large outdoor concert, his first show in New York since 2003. He, moreover, will also select musicians and artists to appear throughout the festival, which will take place in neighborhoods underneath the High Line, a public park being created atop a long-abandoned elevated railway line on the west side of Manhattan.

That's the statement released by David Bowie explaining on his decision to take a break from music industry. As for you to know, Bowie has not released an album since his 2003's "Reality". And now that he has just faced a heart surgery he said it's time for him to take a break.

There are at least three more stars joining the already on-board cast of the upcoming animated fantasy flick "Arthur and the Invisibles." They are Madonna, David Bowie, and rapper Snoop Dogg.
The threesome has reportedly signed on to star in the Luc Besson's big-screen adaptation of his own fantasy children's book. As of the story "Arthur and the Minimoys" follows a child's quest to save the home of grandmother from demolition by seeking out his grandfather's treasure in the land of tiny Minimoys.

January 23, 2006 12:01:50David Bowie has been slated to receive a special Grammy next month. The rocker along with Cream, country icon Merle Haggard and late comic innovator Richard Pryor are among the many names mentioned to be handed the Recording Academy's 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Also set to be honored for their career-long artistic contributions are blues legend Robert Johnson, opera star Jessye Norman and folk group The Weavers. In companion with them there are also Island Records founder Chris Blackwell, engineer Al Schmitt and producer Owen Bradley, all of whom are set to receive the Trustees Award, presented for nonperforming contributions.

"The Prestige" is a drama action genre which script is being worked by film director Christopher Nolan. Based on Christopher Priest's 1996 novel and was adapted by Nolan's brother, Jonathan Nolan, who also wrote the short story on which Nolan's breakout movie, "Memento" was based, the film is scheduled to shoot in January with a budget of $40 million range.

Warner Independent Pictures and Cherry Road Films have optioned the rights to Walter Tevis' 1963 novel "The Man Who Fell to Earth," as well as the remake rights to Nicolas Roeg's 1977 British film starring David Bowie, of the same name.
The two studios then plan to make the remake of the movie, tentatively titled "The Man Who Fell to Earth" with screenwriter Oren Moverman set to adapt. The story is about an alien who comes to Earth disguised as a businessman to procure water for his parched planet. Along the way, he becomes the head of a powerful international conglomerate and discovers just how greedy mankind is, falling into a metaphysical crisis.
Bowie Lit the Fire
September 16, 2005 11:09:01Indie rock sensation Arcade Fire was on stage Thursday night when singer David Bowie lit the light, made a surprise appearance with the music group. The rock star joined the band at the end of their concert in Central Park, led fans to scream at him.
Shortly after performing a song of his own with the Fire, Bowie played an acoustic guitar and joined Arcade Fire's Win Butler in singing the band's "Wake Up." That night performance, indeed, marked Bowie's second performance since having a heart attack last year.
