'Wall-E' Displays Amazing Run for Box Office Top, 'Wanted' Exceeds Expectation

Proving to be the one summer movie to be watched, "Wall-E" lives up to the industry experts' prediction and does even more than that with its amazing run for the crowned #1 slot at the North American box office. With $63.1 million, the family comedy animation has secured its place at the top of the weekend box office and is well ahead of its competitor "Wanted (2008)", which also has an impressive opening, debuting second on the chart.

Raking in more than $60 million, "Wall-E" has become Pixar's ninth consecutive movie to land No.1 and is the studio's third highest grossing movie after "The Incredibles" with $70.5 million and "Finding Nemo" with $70.2 million. Before the final tally came out, the newest Disney's animation grossed a bit behind "Monsters, Inc." which earned $62.6 million on its opening weekend. Still, it finally secured the third place with the outing of the official revenue count. Additionally, it is Pixar's biggest opening-day movie scoring $23.1 million from its Friday, June 27, screening.

'Wall-E', the Best Pixar Movie So Far?

Throughout the years, Pixar Animation Studios have delivered one great CGI-animated feature film after another. With heart warming movies, like "Toy Story", "Monsters, Inc.", "Finding Nemo", "The Incredibles" and "Ratatouille", the studio have dug up massive heaps of golds at the box office as well as collected various coveted awards along the way. Now, as their latest hoped-to-be-great film, "Wall-E", is nearing its theatrical release, the animation production house are crossing their fingers hoping it to be their best work yet. And, it seems that movie critics have believed it to be so.

Gathering a huge pile of positive reviews, "Wall-E" has been mostly praised to be a stunning animation movie with a great big heart. San Francisco Examiner's Rossiter Drake complimented it to be "a wondrous work of the imagination and, to date, the year's best film". In the similar mood of throwing laudation to Pixar for their work with this film, Adam Fendelman of HollywoodChicago.com noted that "Wall-E" is "2008's first perfect film and one of the best Pixar projects of all time".

This weekend ended on June 22 passed by not without any special occasions. In fact, it was marked with the theatrical debut of two awaited comedy movies, "Get Smart" and "The Love Guru", and of course with the memorable world premiere of Disney/Pixar's highly anticipated animation movie, "Wall-E".

On Saturday, June 21, evening, celebrities of all ages came pouring down to the Greek Theatre in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, California to celebrate the special event. Personalities from the older generations, like Brad Garrett, Marlee Matlin, Cristian de la Fuente and Kristi Yamaguchi to the younger ones including David Archuleta, Cole Sprouse, Dylan Sprouse and other Disney stars, Adrienne Bailon, Brenda Song and Selena Gomez, all grazed the Earth-colored carpet and joined its first screening.

'Wall-E' New Trailer Unveiled Destroyed Earth and the City in Space

Brand new video footages from the upcoming animation movie "Wall-E" keep on coming out. After the release of "Lots of Bots" featurette few days back, another trailer has been unearthed. The fresh compilation of clips is entitled "Cities Trailer" and as the name given, it helps viewers to see bits of the ruined cities on Earth and the advanced city in space.

The considerably short trailer brings out more actions and adventures of which the moviegoers will be presented when they watch the film in theaters starting on next Friday, June 27. Displaying the detrimental condition of the Earth in 2800, it exposes a rather serious look of the movie suggesting that "the fate of mankind rests on one highly advanced machine" which is Wall-E. The mood shortly shifts to a lesser demure tone when Wall-E, the supposedly savior of Earth, is shown playing with a bra. Adding to the many collection of "Wall-E" released videos, Walt Disney Pictures have released yet another featurette to the upcoming animation comedy about the waste compacting robot. The new video footage runs for about two and a half minutes and it discusses about the robots featured in the movie from director Andrew Stanton's point of view.

Revealing several unseen footages cut from the Pixar's flick, the featurette focuses merely on the robots that viewers will meet when they go to see "Wall-E" in the theaters. In it, Stanton and Bill Wise, the film's character supervisor, explained about the design of the robots and what is the ground of drawing the robots the way they are presented in the film. It also introduces for the first time the reject bots, the broken, faulty robots.

A Bunch of 'Wall-E' Featurettes and Vignettes

In support of the promotional campaign for the upcoming Walt Disney/Pixar's "Wall-E", a bunch of video footages in relation to the animation movie have been outed. The footages include two featurettes, which are entitled "A Space Journey in Sound" and "Pixar Goes Space Age", and five new Brazilian vignettes.

As its title, the first featurette "A Space Journey in Sound" brings the viewers closer to the making of "Wall-E" from the sound effects side. It focuses on the importance of the sci-fi sound needed to make it realistic and it exposes how Ben Burtt, the Oscar-winning sound editor for "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" and the man behind the voice of R2-D2 robot in the "Star Wars" films, works to get every sound for "Wall-E".

The television promo of "Wall-E" was aired during the NBA game between Boston Celtics and L.A. Lakers on Thursday, June 5. Walt Disney Pictures have introduced their newest lovable animation character "Wall-E" through various unique video footages, including trailers and vignettes. They also have exposed the lonely garbage robot's love interest, 'EVE'. Other than the two of them, no other characters have been brought to the screen. But, now the mouse house let viewers to catch a look into other robots via a new trailer entitled "Meet the Bots".

This new trailer is considerably unique since it is made as if it is a promotional video from the 'Buy N Large' Corporation, the company selling robots designed to aid human in their daily activities. Some of the robots described in the less than a minute video footage include a vacuum cleaner robot named 'Vaq-M', a beautician robot known as 'Pr-T', a disinfectant robot called 'M-O' and positioning robot with the name of 'Auto'. The trailer also explains about the function of 'EVE' and of course 'Wall-E'. Furthermore, it also reveals that this movie combines both animation and live action with the exposure of the human element for the first time.

The abandoned little garbage machine, "Wall-E" has been running away from a magnet, playing with a hula hoop, and discovering the use of headphones. Now, he has to deal with a floor full of bouncy balls with the release of a brand new vignette on the Internet.

In the short video, Wall-E comes across lots of round objects littering the floor. As a machine built to allocate waste, he then scoops the objects and transforms it to be a block. However, when he is about to pick up the block, it blows out making balls to be shooting everywhere and one in particular even hit him in the head.

The new behind the scene video of Pixar's latest animation is entitled "The Man and the Machine" and through which movie lovers can see how the newest Disney's character came to life.

Presented by director/scribbler Andrew Stanton, the compilation of clips that runs nearly two and a half minutes focuses on the development of the lovable robot from the sketch to the actual animated version. In the video, Stanton explained that he has been thinking of making "Wall-E" since 15 years ago back to the time he was writing "Finding Nemo" as well as the difficulties of bringing the animation film to fruition. Said to arrive on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, the second teaser trailer for Disney/Pixar's new CGI animated "Wall-E" turned out to come a bit earlier on the net. Yes, the clip has delightfully been available to see online starting from yesterday, October 1.

The trailer is put on Yahoo! Movies in both standard and HD format, but you can also reach for it through Wall-E Trailer page on AceShowBiz. New footage include the new, funny intro showing the titular robot interacting with the Pixar logo and the discovery of his bug friend.

Coming up with packs of information about its future slate at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Walt Disney Pictures has eagerly opened up details on the plot of "Wall-E", its next CGI animated feature of Pixar Animation Studios production.

Provided by helmer Andrew Stanton, the story explains that humans in the future have completely trashed Earth with rampant commercialism and then leave the planet on space liners, leaving behind a number of robots to clean up the planet, including the titular character.

Its latest work "Ratatouille" still has to wait a few months more before coming to the theaters yet Disney/Pixar has already aimed to develop a follow-up to the cuisine-loving rat tale.

In a letter sent to shareholders this week, Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger informed that the company is set to make the ninth CGI animated feature entitled "Wall-E" with "Finding Nemo" helmer Andrew Stanton to direct and Jim Morris producing.
