'Juno' and 'Superbad' Among 2008 MTV Movie Awards Nominees
May 07, 2008 09:05:22Continuing its annual celebration of honoring best films and Hollywood's talents, MTV is gearing up for 17th MTV Movie Awards by announcing the list of nominees up for the golden popcorn statuettes on Tuesday, May 6. Among those nominated for the special event, Judd Apatow's comedy "Superbad" and Jason Reitman's acclaimed dramedy "Juno" show off their dominations by collecting 5 and 4 nods respectively.
Though mostly the two movies garnered gongs in different categories, they would have to battle it up for the supreme prize, Best Movie award. In the particular category, they also will be facing stiff competitions from four other blockbuster nominees, "Transformers", "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End", "I Am Legend" and "National Treasure: Book of Secrets".

Each film gloriously collected three honors with "Country" snatching top prize of Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Javier Bardem, and Best Director for brothers Joel and Ethan Coen. "Blood", in the meantime, won leading star Daniel Day-Lewis the Best Actor while bringing Robert Elswit and Jonny Greenwood the Best Cinematography and Score trophy, respectively.

Yes, two new character posters of the upcoming "Sweeney Todd" have just been made available on the net, featuring the title character himself and Mrs. Lovett, played respectively by Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.
The twosome's names, however, are not mentioned as they are only referred as the barber and the baker. In the poster, Depp's Todd is caught holding a blood-stained razor while Carter's Mrs. Lovett carries a plate full of meat pies with some human body parts like fingers and ear eerily popping out of them.

According to U.K.'s Daily Mail, Warner Bros. Pictures as the studio producing the musical crime thriller has requested director Tim Burton to remove some R-rated sequences from the film so it can be released with a PG-13 MPAA tag. It appeared that the early footage from the movie was so extremely bloody that the studio execs have become a tad squeamish and wanted it to be re-cut instead.
