Also seen walking down the red carpet on the occasion were most of the film's cast. 'The Soloist' Out of AFI FEST 2008's Opening Night
October 23, 2008 11:10:34Being bumped to a new slot in 2009 apparently brings a massive effect to "The Soloist" as the DreamWorks movie has been pulled out from its participation as the opening night film of AFI FEST 2008. The fact was revealed on Wednesday, October 22, in an announcement made by the American Film Institute through the film's producers.
In a joint statement from Paramount, DreamWorks and Participant Media, the producers explained about the reason for the withdrawal. "Due to the change in 'The Soloist' release date, we unfortunately had to withdraw from the AFI FEST Film Festival," the statement read. "It was an honor to be invited as the Opening Night film and we are very grateful to the festival for their support and understanding."

'The Soloist' Being Delayed to 2009
October 18, 2008 12:10:53Paramount Pictures' "The Soloist", a drama musical that centers on a homeless violin player, has been bumped to 2009. Paramount have decided to push back the Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr.-starring movie from November 21, 2008 to March 13, 2009. The news was broken out firstly by Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily and later was confirmed by Paramount.
Though it is said that the studio toppers are disappointed by the delay due to the losing possibility of it competing for 2008 Academy Awards slot, they are hoping that this film gains commercial success in the new date. Paramount vice chairman, Rob Moore, has come up with a reason saying, "We decided it's a commercial movie that will play well in the spring, and we'll give it an aggressive wide release then."

The Trailer of Jamie Foxx's 'The Soloist' Debuted
September 11, 2008 10:09:29"The Soloist", a musical drama movie from DreamWorks, has welcomed its first trailer. Promoting the based-on-true-story movie, the video focuses on the unlikely bond of friendship built between Steve Lopez, a columnist for the Los Angeles Times, and Nathaniel Ayers, a homeless and schizophrenic musician.
Telling the story of a journalist in the middle of writer's block and a musician who lost his way, "Soloist " follows Robert Downey Jr. as Lopez as he discovered an amazing talent, Ayers, on the streets of downtown Los Angeles. Finding out that Ayers, played by Jamie Foxx, is actually a musical prodigy specializing in playing the violin and the cello but becomes homeless after developing schizophrenia during his second year at Juilliard School, he decides to write about him.

Report coming from Variety has revealed that the actor is poised to topline a dramatic feature titled "The Soloist" as a brilliant but mentally troubled musician Nathaniel Ayers who developed schizophrenia in his second year at Juilliard and ended up homeless on the streets of downtown L.A. where he performs the violin and cello.
