Sleuth Toronto Premiere Joined by Cast and Director

Screened on the same day as "Atonement", thriller mystery "Sleuth" also got its North American premiere held on Monday, September 10, 2007 as part of the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival's Gala Presentation program.

Taking place at Roy Thompson Hall, the premiere was marked with the attendance of the two leading actors Michael Caine and Jude Law as well as that of director Kenneth Branagh.

Obtaining a prestigious venue to introduce "Sleuth", filmmakers of the flick have successfully got their cinematic work a slot at the 64th annual Venice Film Festival set to spin this year from August 29 to September 8.

As the thriller mystery will have its world premiere there, stars Michael Caine and Jude Law are expected to attend the screening as well as helmer Kenneth Branagh. The remake of Joseph Mankiewicz's 1972 effort, pic finds Caine portraying a writer who lures his wife's lover, played by Law, into a twisted game.

Kenneth Branagh needs not worry anymore about the future of his latest directorial work "Sleuth." The Hollywood Reporter has delightfully brought in good news that Paramount Pictures has finally obtained the rights to distribute the flick overseas in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa regions.

An updated version of the 1972 thriller classic which was made based on Anthony Shaffer's Tony Award-winning play, the movie presents the story of an down-on-his-luck actor who matches wits with a wealthy writer after being found out to get involved in an affair with the man's wife. Jude Law plays the out-of-work actor while Michael Caine portrays the betrayed husband.

Striving forward amidst the strong competition among film companies, Sony Pictures Classics has satisfyingly acquired rights to distribute high-profile drama "Sleuth", Variety has reported.

A remake of the 1972 film of the same title made based on a play written by Anthony Shaffer, the flick follows an older writer and a younger actor as they spend a weekend trying to outwit each other after the writer learns the actor has been having an affair with his wife. Shooting is slated to begin in the U.K this month with Michael Caine and Jude Law starring.

Kenneth Branagh Spying on "Sleuth"

This time Kenneth Branagh is going to do a remake. Variety has learned that the British filmmaker has been tapped to direct "Sleuth", a new version of the 1972 drama film which was based on the Anthony Shaffer's play.

Financed by Castle Rock, pic revolves around a brilliant thriller writer and social fixture who arranges a complex revenge plan to his wife and her lover, a young hairdresser, after losing her to the man. Production of the film is scheduled to begin production in January at London's Twickenham Studios with Michael Caine also Jude Law starring and Harold Pinter adapting the script.
