Brad Pitt-Starring 'Moneyball' Benched
June 22, 2009 01:06:14Columbia Pictures have hit the brakes on "Moneyball" production, a 2011 film starring Brad Pitt set to begin production in Phoenix on Monday, June 22. Variety reports that Amy Pascal, the co-chairwoman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, placed the film into "limited turnaround" on Friday, June 19 after reading Steven Soderbergh's script.
She made the decision after knowing that the re-written script was sharply different from the earlier script written by Steven Zaillian which she championed. Pascal gave Soderbergh an opportunity to set it up at other studios. The prime targets for the turnaround reportedly are Warner Bros. Pictures and Paramount Pictures.
