Spike Lee's 'Miracle at St. Anna' Gets First Trailer
June 13, 2008 10:06:46From the man who brought biopic film "Malcolm X" and crime-drama movie "Inside Man", Spike Lee, comes a new feature film dealing with the Sant'Anna di Stazzema massacre, "Miracle at St. Anna" and Touchstone Pictures have released its first trailer. The dramatic video footage takes more than two and a half minutes to be seen, but it displays epic and emotional footages from the movie.
Giving out the first in depth look into the drama tidbit, the trailer pretty much gives out the background idea on what the movie is all about. From the look of the compilation of clips, the movie seems to be told from the interview with the main character, Hector Negron. The first part of the trailer explained that Hector, a former African-American Buffalo soldier, killed a man and after the incident, police find a priceless Italian artifact that may unlock the 39-year-old mystery in his New York home. The second part goes back to the time of the World War II and focuses on the struggle of the American soldiers to save an Italian boy.

Spike Lee Granted a "Miracle"
June 07, 2007 04:06:34Seemingly on the run to be one of the busiest filmmakers working today, Spike Lee is set to direct "Miracle at St. Anna", an Italy-set World War II drama about black American soldiers fighting the German army in the mountains of Tuscany.
Made under the keen eye of Italian producers Luigi Musini and Roberto Cicutto, pic turns out to be a film adaptation of U.S. author Walter McBride's novel of the same name which presents the true life account of four members of the U.S. army's 92nd division of all-black soldiers. Trapped in a Tuscan village in 1994, the quartet not only had to deal with their racist, incompetent commanders, but the ruthless Nazi soldiers as well.

Reader's Reviews

I've read numerous reviews for this film and have to ask myself, "What film did these guys see?". I've seen it twice and both times was deeply moved by the characters, the story and the music. There wasn't a dry eye in the house on both occasions. Both men and women are crying at the end of this movie. The forst time I saw it, you could hear the audience cry as the movie trudged toward the finale. In a dismal year for film (with Iron Man) being the exception, it was wonderful to see a movie where people actually cared about and liked the characters in the movie. I hope Spike Lee and Terence Blanchard get awards for this wonderful movie.
