Liev Schreiber and Laura Harring Catching "Cholera"
September 25, 2006 02:09:20More names are submitted to the cast list of "Love in the Time of Cholera." Following the inclusion of Javier Bardem, Benjamin Bratt, and John Leguizamo, Liev Schreiber plus Laura Harring have reportedly been added to the line-up. Along with the twosome, three other actresses namely Angie Cepeda, Ana Claudia Talancon, and Rubria Negrao have also been submitted to the project.
Schreiber will portray a telegram operator named Lotario Thugut who befriends Bardem's character, Florentino, while Harring is set to play Sara Noriega, one of many women who fall for Florentino. Shooting has already begun in Colombia with British filmmaker Mike Newell directing based on script written by Ronald Harwood.

Three More to Spread "Cholera"

Three more stars namely John Leguizamo, Hector Elizondo, and Fernanda Montenegro have been confirmed to join the cast of "Love in the Time of Cholera", the New Line Cinema's adaptation of the Gabriel Garcia Marquez's book, Variety has reported.
With this inclusion, the trio therefore is the latest addition in the line-up after the recruitment of Javier Bardem, Benjamin Bratt, and Giovanna Mezzogiorno. Production is scheduled to begin on September 4 in Cartagena, Colombia, and London with Scott Steindorff producing through his Stone Village banner.

February 18, 2006 09:02:02The Hollywood Reporter reported that Javier Bardem is ready to film his next movie project, "Love in the Time of Cholera." The big-screen adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez' novel of the same name is about to be directed by Mike Newell from a screenplay written by Oscar winner Ronald Harwood.
Of drama romance genre, "Love in the Time of Cholera" follows a romantic young man (Bardem) who loses the girl of his dreams to a wealthier suitor and consequently spends the next 50 years building his life and reputation so that one day he might have her. Other women find this devotion irresistible, so he finds himself with frequent female companionship throughout his wait, but his heart always remains faithful to the woman who first captured his heart.

The director of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" is still in talks to direct "Love in the Time of Cholera" for New Line Cinema. Elsewhere, Oscar winner Ronald Harwood already wrote the screenplay.
"Love in the Time of Cholera" is based on the novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The story revolves around two young lovers who wait out careers, marriages, affairs and deaths until they can finally reunite.
