Will Good Karma Take Side on 'Love Guru'?

Among the genius comics making a living in the movie industry, Mike Myers maybe considered to be one of the most successful comedians who has managed to deliver one blockbuster hit after another. Yet, like many other acclaimed actors, the Canadian funny man has experienced being loved as well as being gutted out by the movie critics throughout his acting career. With his latest comedy film "The Love Guru", Myers is trying to once again reach another box office success. But, it seems that this time, the good karma may not stay by his side.

Expecting a better Myers film for the follow-up to his other great movies, including "Wayne's World" and "Austin Powers", most of movie critics came out with harsh reviews on the new comedy. With only 2 out of 13 critics hailed it to be a fresh one, "Love Guru" looks like ought to be satisfied with the 15% rating given by Rotten Tomatoes. Stating his opinion about the star-studded movie, Variety's Brian Lowry noted that it "doesn't provide any grand insights about self-actualization" and worse it only offers "bathroom jokes, sixth-grade puns and silly songs". On the same degrading tone, another top critic Kirk Honeycutt of Hollywood Reporter slammed it with comment that "Not only does the film stumble badly from one skit to another, the skits themselves have too much dead air."

Blue Carpet Marked 'Love Guru' L.A. Premiere

If "Sex and the City" provided a custom-designed pink carpet and "The Incredible Hulk" has a signature green carpet, what color represents "The Love Guru" best? Apparently, blue is the definite answer. Celebrating the first special screening, the latest comedy film from comedian Mike Myers rolled down its blue carpet for its L.A. premiere.

The special event was held on Wednesday, June 11, at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. It was attended by most of its stars that include Myers, Justin Timberlake, Meagan Good, Romany Malco and Verne Troyer as well as many celebrity guests, among whom were Mariska Hargitay and Tila Tequila. Despite the merriness, the premiere missed out "Love Guru" leading lady Jessica Alba, who has just given birth to her baby daughter on June 7.

Before anyone heads down to the theaters to watch the latest comedy movie from Mike Myers, Paramount Pictures have provided movie lovers with a better look into "The Love Guru" on the net through a new trailer. The new video footage runs far less than the first since it doesn't last up to two minutes. However, it still gives out many never before seen clips from the movie.

Unlike the first trailer which is opened with a thoughtful narration, this new trailer offers a more comical opening as the voice of serious Pitka telling about his childhood experience can be heard on the background. As he continues his story, the camera gets closer to him showing that he has given the narration using the voice-over machine. The compilation of clips then goes on with the introduction of Pitka by the real narrator.

Film Feared to Be Lampooning Hinduism, 'Love Guru' Makers Agreed Special Screening

Answering to the screening demand from prominent Hindu leader Rajan Zed, the filmmakers of the upcoming comedy "The Love Guru" let out clarification that the movie is not aimed to offend anybody's feelings, particularly Hindu followers and leaders. Further, Punjab Newsline reported that Paramount Pictures have agreed to screen the film for Hindu leaders to clear up the misunderstanding.

In an official statement made on Monday, March 17, the Senior Vice President National Publicity of Paramount Pictures Jessica Rovins revealed that everyone involved are intending to preview the Marco Schnabel-directed film to the Hindu leaders. The statement read, "Along with Mike Myers, the film stars Jessica Alba, Verne Troyer, Justin Timberlake, Romany Malco, Deepak Chopra and Manu Narayan (who comes from a Hindu background). It is our full intention to screen the film for Rajan Zed and other Hindu leaders in the U.S. once we have a finished print."

Paramount Pictures have released the trailer of the upcoming Jessica Alba comedy movie "The Love Guru". The video footage runs a bit over two and a half minutes.

Slash Film commented that the trailer gives out promises that this comedy film looks about as funny as the upcoming Adam Sandler's comedy "You Don't Mess with the Zohan" as well as the upcoming Will Ferrell's comedy "Step Brothers". Aside from Alba, the film itself features Mike Myers, Justin Timberlake, Ben Kingsley and Meagan Good.

Imagine Mike Myers in long brown hair with curly mustache and long beard, and that's what you get in the very first picture from his upcoming vehicle "The Love Guru."

Brought by USA Today, the photo, as seen on the left, also captures Myers' beautiful co-star Jessica Alba in, who flashed her white teeth while looking lovely in yellow dress. In the comedy, the latter is portraying the owner of a hockey team and the love interest of Myers' Pitka.

Completing the starry cast lineup in "The Love Guru", Ben Kingsley, Meagan Good, and John Oliver have all given their commitment to take part in the Mike Myers-starrer comedy, which most recently signed pop star Justin Timberlake in.

Here Kingsley reportedly will fill in the role of Guru Tugginmypudha, the ashram leader who teaches Myers’ character how to love himself and how to wear a chastity belt. Good, in the meantime, is billed as Prudence, the estranged wife of Toronto Maple Leafs player Darren Roanoke who leaves him for his French-Canadian hockey nemesis, Jacques Grande, played by Timberlake.

After Jessica Alba, here comes another massively popular name to highlight "The Love Guru." Paramount Pictures as the studio producing the flick has announced that pop star Justin Timberlake is joining the cast of the comedy which Mike Myers will topline as the titular character.

Here the multiple Grammy Awards winner will be a professional hockey player in L.A. Kings named Jacques Grande who dates the estranged wife of Toronto Maple Leafs star hockey player Darren Roanoke, played by Romany Malco. It is the rift between Roanoke and his wife that Myers' character has to settle since the man is expected to get back on his game so the team can break the 40-year-old "Bullard Curse" and win the Stanley Cup.

Embracing his first feature directorial debut, Marco Schnabel has signed on to helm self-help comedy "The Love Guru" for Paramount Pictures, Variety has reported.

Starring Mike Myers as the title character, the flick follows the advice-dispensing Guru as he is called to solve a couple's romantic troubles. Myers, who co-wrote the script with Graham Gordy, is said to have worked at crafting the character at several theaters in Manhattan.

I loved it. It was hilarious. Waaaaaaaaay better than the Zohan movie Sandler put out.
