Story

Twin sisters - a prim, ambitious magazine editor (Carice van Houten, "Game of Thrones") and a warm, family-oriented housewife (real-life sibling Jelka van Houten) - travel to the American Southwest in search of the biological mother they've never met (Academy Award winner Holly Hunter). Finding her the worse for wear and living out of a battered RV, the sisters drive their mother cross-state to a rehab center on a journey that will redefine the meaning of "family" for all of them. With dazzling cinematography shot on location in the breathtaking desert landscapes of New Mexico, Jackie is a fresh and heartwarming take on the classic American road movie.

REVIEWS BY CRITICS

“..although the film is often a little too leisurely in its execution, Jackie generally does remain quite watchable from start to finish..”
by David Nusair [Reel Film Reviews]
“..affable perfs from Holly Hunter and Carice van Houten ensure an enjoyable ride, though the screenplay succeeds only very late in the game in using the genre's obligatory road stops as believable conduits for character change..”
by Boyd van Hoeij [Variety]
“..Jackie succeeds as a rather enjoyable and big-hearted film that us never less than watchable..”
by Mark Adams [Screen International]
