AAFCA's Top 10 Films of the Year
January 03, 2006 09:01:57Focusing on the story about the prejudices of intersecting characters, "Crash" delightfully has been placed number one on the Top Films of the Year list compiled by African-American Film Critics Association (AAFCA). Also included in the list were "The Constant Gardener", "Good Night And Good Luck", "Brokeback Mountain", "Syriana", "Walk the Line", "Hustle & Flow", "Capote", "Batman Begins", and "North Country."
"The films selected for 2005 boldly reflect a bridge towards tolerance," said Gil Robertson IV, President of AAFCA, in relation of the selection of these ten compelling movies.

Comes first on the list is "Brokeback Mountain" which ups for six nominations all at once, which are Best Picture, Best Director for Ang Lee, Best Actor for Heath Ledger, Best Supporting Actor for Jake Gyllenhaal, Best Supporting Actress for Michelle Williams, and Best Screenplay.
Then comes "Capote" which earns 4 nominations, mainly for Best Actor for Philip Seymour Hoffman, Best Supporting Actress for Catherine Keener, Best First Film, and Best Screenplay. "The Constant Gardener" comes next with 3 nominations; Best Picture, Best Director for Fernando Meirelles, and Best Supporting Actress for Rachel Weisz.

The 10th Annual Satellite Awards Winners
December 19, 2005 04:12:14"Brokeback Mountain" really is a big winner at this year movie awards season. Has been named as one of AFI's Best Movies of 2005 and becoming the lead nominee of the 63rd annual Golden Globe Awards, the flick also is scoring great at the 10th annual Satellite Awards, an event organized by critics formerly affiliated with the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn.
At the ceremony held Saturday Dec 17th at the Four Seasons Hotel, the film won four trophies all at once, mainly for Best Motion Picture Drama, Editing, Song, and Director for Ang Lee. Another winner was Philip Seymour Hoffman who was named Best Actor in A Motion Picture Drama for "Capote" and Felicity Huffman who was granted the Best Dramatic Film Actress prize for "Transamerica."
