'He's Just Not That Into You' So Into North American Box Office

Debuted in theaters on Friday, February 6, star-studded romantic comedy "He's Just Not That Into You" has exceeded expectation and taken over the top slot at the North American box office over the weekend. Earning $7 million more than second place "Taken", the film based on the popular bestseller book by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo opened with $27.9 million bow.

According to Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media by Numbers, "He's Just Not That Into You" is the latest movie led by strong female characters to have scored big at the box office, following the footsteps of "Sex and the City", "Twilight" and "Mamma Mia!". "Women continue to drive box office in a big way," he said. "And we still continue to, mistakenly, underestimate the power of the female audience."

"He's Just Not That Into You" world premiere event on Monday, February 2, has become a star-studded extravaganza. Held four days before the dramedy opens in U.S. theaters, the special screening night taking place at Grauman's Chinese Theater saw the streaming in of many Hollywood A-listers from the film's all-star cast to other celebrity guests.

Making an effort to come to the premiere were most of the film's cast ensemble, including Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly, Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, Justin Long, Kevin Connolly and Kris Kristofferson. In the effort to promote "He's Just Not That Into You", a brand new featurette from the upcoming romantic comedy has been released. Featuring Justin Long, Kevin Connolly and Bradley Cooper, the nearly six minutes video basically serves as the three actors' platform to prove that "He's Just Not That Into You" is not a typical romantic comedy movie.

Presenting ten chick flick cliches that are not in the movie, Long, Connolly and Cooper provide comic illustrations to the cliches they are pointing out. Like when Cooper notes that there won't be makeover montages in their movie, they act up as if Long and Cooper are giving Connolly a makeover with him trying on different kinds of outfits.

How to find true love when everyone hides the truth? "He's Just Not That Into You" follows a group of women in their twenties and thirties who try to figure out the answers to that question, and through the new trailer released firstly by MySpace, it can be seen that most of the women find the reading or misreading human behavior as something that is proved to be challenging.

These interconnecting story arcs center on Gigi, a young woman who repeatedly misinterprets the signs that men give her about their level of interest in her. Desperately trying to get attention from her love interest Connor, she then turns to Alex, the manager of a bar, for advises on how to understand men. Another story follows Beth as she gets to the point where she needs to know where her relationship with Neil is heading to. Meanwhile, a newspaper editor finds that comprehending the semiotics of dating is troubling.

How would you know that a man is not interested in a woman he is dating or romantically involved with? That is exactly what "He's Just Not That Into You" brings to the plate. Delivering an interconnected story of a group of women dealing with their love life, the New Line Cinema movie has just premiered its first trailer online.

Opened with a scene in which Gigi, Ginnifer Goodwin's character, exchanging name cards with a man she met in a bar, the compilation of clips pretty much gives out the idea what issue wants to be picked up by the filmmakers as Gigi who doesn't want to misinterpret the man's remark pursues him to speak out his mind about calling her. From the look of the trailer, the main character is Gigi, though other characters played by Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Drew Barrymore are still featured to deliver the point of the film, that is 'he is just not that into you'.

Images taken showed Jennifer Aniston as she went around the set on Wednesday, September 18, 2007 with fellow Hollywood star Ben Affleck also present on the spot. Seems the number of big names featured in "He's Just Not That Into You" keeps growing as New Line Cinema reportedly is currently in talks with Ben Affleck to also get him boarded the film's cast.

If everything runs smooth, Affleck thereby will round out the lineup already consisting of Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly, and Scarlett Johansson, among others. The "He's Just Not that Into You" Soundtrack has a really good flow to it. I expected to find myself skipping through songs like I normally find when I purchase or listen to a full cd. With this cd, I did not find any of the songs that I felt the need to skip through. The entire cd has a very mellow feel to it, so it is a good fit for both cleaning music, and even while you are doing other chores. I found it very pleasant to listen to while driving, and it kept me from feeling road rage :). I have actually listened to the cd many times since purchasing, and will be transferring it to my iPod as a playlist. I think that my favorite aspect of this cd is that it has a good mix of older songs, combined with new fresh songs, yet all of them are pleasurable to listen to. If the soundtrack is this good, I definitely look forward to what the movie provides!

Now, it is hard to put a soundtrack together that everyone is going to love, but they did a good job. Out of 17 songs, I think there were only 2 I didn’t really care for. However, when “Don’t You Want Me” by The Human League came on, I knew I was going to love this CD. I also have a few other favorites on here like “Supernatural Superserious” by REM, “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane, and “Friday I’m in Love” but The Cure. The biggest surprise on here had to be that Scarlett Johansson has her own song! I recommend picking this up!

I'm usually a fan of soundtracks. They remind of the mix tapes and cds I made as a teenager. I loved the craft of putting the perfect songs together for someone or some event. I'd sit in front of my music collection and build the latest creation. These days I still make mixes, but now they're in itunes, for my ipod or someone elses. This album is a GREAT mix tape...err soundtrack! It's full of fun, dance around your kitchen, songs. Yes, I was doing dishes when I popped the cd in! The album is full of new favorites, particularly James Morrison's "You Make It Real" and Erin McCarley's "Love, Save the Empty". I also really enjoyed the Cure and Talking Heads thrown in. It was nice to hear those songs again. A great surprise. All together, these 17 tracks really felt like a great mix tape. If you like that vibe and a good mix of great songs, go out and pick this one up. You won't be disappointed.

i personally loved it. the soundtrack, the humor, the seriousness and it was so completely true with some of the things they said. it also shows that everything happens for a reason and you will find love, just not where or when your expect it. Also, i believe a lot of girls like it because in the movie or some parts of it they can relate it to their own life and help them grow from it. i saw it 4 times in theaters and cant wait till its out on DVD.
