I've seen the original story to this on the television show "A Haunting" and it was a pretty scary story. And I tought the ending was sad, but over all it was pretty worthy being made into a movie!

I am REALLY looking forward to this movie. I've heard of this story before. I have yet to see a good ghost movie in a long time-- I hope this meets my expectations!

This is another attempt of Hollywood to milk as much money as they can from other peoples suffering. Why is the public getting so worked up over a movie that is "loosely" based on actual events. I'm not saying it never happened, but if you want to see what it was about, watch the documentary that was filmed by the discovery channel. Being rated PG-13, you know this movie will flop. Any horror film that is rated PG-13 is Crap.

EXCELLENT MOVIE!!!!truelyishorrifying. THis movie hasplenty of things that will make you jump outta your seat and hop into the arms of someone next to you. It should be rated R for all the disturbing images

Honestly, the only remotely scary part about this movie was the orchestra score. It SOUNDS scary, but the on-screen visuals don't complement the music at all. The acting, I thought, left a lot to be desired. Matt's character, and those of the two younger children were the most believable. The plot was lacking any kind of creativity. Halfway through the movie, I knew exactly how it was going to end. One positive point though, beside the orchestra, was that the special effects were very well done. Overall, I wouldn't say that it was a bad movie, but I wouldn't rush off just to see it.

The original "haunting" apparently was admittedly contrived (according to the author of the book, the actual "real" story is based upon) but the movie takes liberties, that bear no resemblance to even the original idea. Totally ridiculous!

please only review after you have ACTUALLY seen the film, it's very hard to get an idea of how good the movie is when people are giving the trailers 5 stars. The trailer is supposed to be 5 stars, to attract people. Thanks xxx

Unfortunately, this movie has almost nothing to do with the "real" story. The "real" story involved demonic possession which originally involved the older boy but after he was removed to an institution because he was presumed insane, the younger boy became "possessed". The family ultimately moved from the house, and none of the stuff near the end of the movie ever happened.

omfg it was great me and my friends started to cry from how scary it was u guys gotta see it!!!!

I went to see the movie last weekend and felt that the TV show was much better. The story told on the big screen felt unbelievable. How can two stories be told about one event? That's insane. There were some jumpy parts in the movie but I don't believe that this was a true story at all. Was there really a fire? If what happened in the moview really happened it would have been world news at the time! If you are going to say these were true events at least make it believable. I wish i would have waited to see it on cable! I would have saved $10.

I LOOOOOOVED this movie!!!! Kyle Gallner was so freakin awesome in this. He should have been nominated for break out performer MTV awards but all the little teenyboppers out there decided that Twilight should have been nominated instead. What a freakin joke that was!!!!! I mean Rob Pattison????? COME ON PEOPLE!!!! That guy suck's and he is so OVEREXPOSED!!! Kyle gallner has more talent in his littlest pinky then that schmuck has in his whole body. Like I said though I LOOOOOOOOOVED this movie. I've seen it 8 time's and I'm so getting the DVD.
