July 24, 2007 03:07:52Being the seventh and final tome of the "Harry Potter" series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" has amazingly surpassed all sales records over the weekend following its release Friday (July 20) at midnight and become the fastest selling book in the history, publisher Scholastic Inc. announced Monday, July 23, 2007.
In the book's first twenty-four hours on sale, 8.3 million copies had been sold in the United States alone, averaging 5,000 copies a minute and over 300,000 copies an hour while 2.65 million others were sold in Great Britain, outdistancing 2 million record set by previous installment "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."

"Deathly Hallows" On Sale Now
July 21, 2007 01:07:07The long-awaited moment is finally coming to life now as bookstores across Britain and other parts of the world brought up their copies of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", the seventh and final chapter of the bespectacled teen wizard's adventures.
At Waterstone's bookstore on Piccadilly in central London, over 5,000 people lined up for hours before the midnight opening, many dressed in various costumes as wizards, witches, house elves, and weirdly, even Hogwarts castle. In the U.S., fans willingly gathered up since daylight outside bookstores in Los Angeles. Readers in the States had to wait until midnight stroke in each time zone, from 12:01 A.M. EDT Saturday, July 21.

The book is great. I could not put it down. I understand why they had to cut the book into two movies. Too much going on to be in just one.

Is there any info about where the two movies will be split? I was trying to think of a good spot in the the dealthy hallows where they could make a great ending for part one. Maybe the chapter, "the silver doe" when ron saves harry, the get the sword, and destroy the locket? Any thoughts?
posted by patiently.waiting on Oct 22, 2008Don't screw this up hollywood! By the way..J.K.Rowling, after the death of voldemort and the denumant in the head's office, the ending is a little tacky, too hollywoodish I might had. But I liked the nineteen years latter. Good job!

I've heard a lot of folks talk about how "anticlimactic" the last book is in the ending...what they fail to realize is that the whole book up to the very end was nothing but climax. Anyway, I wasn't too happy with OotP, but then again, I'm a book nut.

I hope its really good! I was kinda disapointed with OOTP, it wasnt as good as I thought It would be. I was also upset when Twilight got the spot that HP already had!! And its true that Deathly Hallows is split in two. I read that the director really wanted it to be a cliffhanger, like in the part where Harry, Ron, and Hermione are caught by the Snatchers. Which is good, but I dont know if I can wait Six more months for the second part to come out!!
