First Look at The Green Hornet's Costume

First taste on how Britt Reid will look like in his Green Hornet costume in "The Green Hornet" has been shared. Splash News has posted a video from the set of the masked vigilante adaptation which contains a brief glimpse at Green Hornet's costume. It isn't clear whether the man behind the costume is Seth Rogen or his stunt double.

Aside from exposing first look at the vigilante's costume, the video also displays some on-set explosions. A peek at Kato in his crime-fighting costume is also available to view. The footage from the set can be enjoyed via Splash News.

'The Green Hornet' Hit With a Bomb Scare

Mishap apparently isn't ready to leave the set of "The Green Hornet". After a car chase scene went awry in early September, the Los Angeles set of the masked vigilante adaptation saw a bomb scare unraveling on Tuesday, September 29 as crew members found an unidentified metal object lying in the parking lot.

Following the discovery, the crew alerted the security which led to response from LAPD bomb squad. Preventing the worse, the squad reportedly blew up the object on the spot with a robot. A police spokesman told E! News, "Everything is clear, they only found a smoke detector." It is unclear whether the stars, including Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz, were on the set during the incident.

Nicolas Cage has made use of his appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival to explain his sudden departure from "The Green Hornet". While promoting "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans", the lead actor in the "National Treasure" series reasons he has a different take on the film's villain Chudnofsky from director Michel Gondry and star/co-writer Seth Rogen.

According to The Canadian Press, the Academy Award-winner claimed he "wasn't interested in just being just a straight-up bad guy who was killing people willy-nilly." He further said, " 'The Green Hornet' was something that I wanted to do, I think Michel Gondry is very talented and I had hoped it would work but I think Seth Rogen and Michel had a different take on the character."

'The Green Hornet' Finds Villain in Christoph Waltz

An "Inglourious Basterds" star has crossed over to "The Green Hornet". According to Deadline Hollywood, Christoph Waltz has signed on to play the villain in the Columbia Pictures action comedy. He is set to play Chudnofsky, a Los Angeles crime boss who attempts to form a supermafia by uniting the city's various gangs.

The Colonel Hans Landa of the Quentin Tarantino's World War II epic replaces Nicolas Cage who was in talks for the role but walked away when he and the studio were not able to come to terms on a deal. The casting places him among the cast ensemble that includes Seth Rogen, Jay Chou and Cameron Diaz.

Stunt Goes Awry on 'The Green Hornet' Set

Having just kicked off its production last week, "The Green Hornet" was already hit with an on-set mishap over the weekend. E! News reported that the filming of a car chase scene has gone awry when a stunt driver, who was reportedly manning the Black Beauty car, lost control of the car and crashed into the front of the Creative Artists Agency's headquarters.

When the set accident took place, some of the film stars, Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Edward James Olmos, were shooting a shootout before the offices of the Hollywood's premiere talent agency. They were not involved in the incident, and while a portion of the driveway wall was damaged, the stuntman escaped without injury.

How Kato will look like in upcoming movie "The Green Hornet" is revealed through two on-set pictures. The photos capture the stunt double for Jay Chou's character wearing all-black outfits and mask.

In addition to those pics, other photographs taken from the filming location of the film in Los Angeles have also been found, highlighting on Cameron Diaz's Lenore Case and Seth Rogen's Britt Reid. The two are seen holding a press conference when an explosion goes off and they are rushed to their car. All the pictures can be seen on SuperHero Hype!.

Release Date for 'The Green Hornet' Pushed Back Five Months

While some progress in the cast ensemble indicated that "The Green Hornet" is moving forward, the film's release date has been pushed back five months, making it a winter film instead of a summer one. Box Office Mojo was the first which hinted the film has been delayed by mentioning that the old release date July 9, 2010 has been moved to December 17, 2010.

Talking about the delay, Seth Rogen, who has been attached to star in the film, said he is relieved about the date change as it gives some benefits in the film-making process. "We're both relieved and psyched about the change," he stated. "It gives more time for post, which would have been immensely rushed if we were to come out in the summer."

Hong Kong actor Stephen Chow was out from "The Green Hornet", but there will be another Asian actor filling in his shoes as Jay Chou is being recruited to star. On Friday, August 7, Sony Pictures made the announcement that the Taiwanese singer-actor has joined the cast as martial arts master Kato, the role originally made famous by Bruce Lee in its TV series version.

"THE GREEN HORNET gets his Kato in Taiwanese Superstar Jay Chou," the studio tweeted on the casting confirmation before issuing the official statement completed with commentary from both the actor and director Michel Gondry. "It's an overwhelming experience to take on a role made famous by Bruce Lee," so claimed Jay in Sony's press release.

Nicolas Cage may join the cast of "The Green Hornet". While it is still unclear what character he will be portraying in the Michael Gondry-directed film, Variety has reported that the star of the "National Treasure" series is in early negotiations with Columbia Pictures to be a gangster villain.

Beside Nicolas Cage, Cameron Diaz has been reported to be in talks to join the feature project. Although previously it hasn't been disclosed what part that she will tackle in the project, current report suggested she is negotiating the part of a reporter who happens to be Britt Reid/Green Hornet's love interest.

After leaving the director seat of "The Green Hornet", Stephen Chow is likely to be cast out from the action film as well. The speculation emerged after a casting call for Kato, a role in the Columbia Pictures movie project that was previously linked to the "Kung Fu Hustle" star, has been announced via Spoiler TV.

In the casting call, it is mentioned that for the Kato role, the studio is looking for a man with Asian ethnicities. He has to be around his 20's to his early 40's, but doesn't have to have Martial Arts experience. The role itself is described to be "Brit Reid's manservant/chauffeur by day and Green Hornet's martial arts-skilled sidekick by night."

"The Green Hornet" could get a Golden Globe-nominated actress as its leading lady. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cameron Diaz is considering a female lead offer for the superhero movie. Indicating the 36-year-old is said to be in early talks for the role, the publication stressed that no deal has been set in stone just yet.

What part she will tackle in the project hasn't been disclosed. However, should the actress who will soon be seen starring in "The Box" join the adaptation project, she will be seen playing opposite leading man Seth Rogen and working with director Michel Gondry. Her representatives refused to give comment on this casting rumor.

Director Michel Gondry has brought out into the open, cameo and villain to be seen in "The Green Hornet". During a recent interview with MTV, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter for "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" first talked about the possibility of Van Williams, the one-time Green Hornet, making an appearance in the film.

When asked about Williams' potential involvement in the feature project, Gondry responded, "Yeah, I think we're going to have Van Williams. We're going to find a cameo for him." He in addition revealed that Williams was the one who reached out to him for the cameo, saying "He asked us to. It's going to be exciting."

A few interesting tidbits about "The Green Hornet", including the start of shooting date, have been brought forth by one of its screenwriters, Seth Rogen. Giving updates to the superhero movie while promoting "Monsters vs. Aliens" in Australia, the co-writer of "Superbad" revealed during his "The Jono & Dano Show" appearance that the movie will start filming in June.

Beside the shooting date, the 26-year-old actor also stated that while the film will be an origin story, it won't be one in the traditional sense, further promising that "it'll be unlike every other superhero film out there." Noting that the story will highlight on the relationship between Kato and Britt Reid a.k.a. Green Hornet, he also explained that the movie will see his Green Hornet as just a normal guy, whereas Stephen Chow's Kato as the one who does all the superhero stuff.

The speculation about Stephen Chow taking the role of Kato in "The Green Hornet" has been confirmed. On Friday, September 19, Columbia Pictures have let out a press release announcing that the 46-year-old has been tapped to take the role once made famous by legendary Bruce Lee. What makes it even more interesting, the man behind hit action comedy "Kung Fu Hustle" has also joined the project as the helmer.

About his joining in the project, Chow commented, "I'm excited to be taking on The Green Hornet - obviously, I've been a huge fan of the show since I was a kid. Buzz around "The Green Hornet" is likely to get louder by now as Los Angeles Times has brought in a new scoop about the project following the recent inclusion of "Knocked Up" star Seth Rogen.

According to the paper, Rogen is apparently keen to have Hong Kong actor-director Stephen Chow to play Kato, the titular character's sidekick formerly played by the deceased martial arts superstar Bruce Lee. Chow, considered the finest Hong Kong screen comedian since Michael Hui, is probably most well-known to international audience for his recent works of "Shaolin Soccer" and "Kung Fu Hustle."

Taking a great leap from comedy to action genre, "Knocked Up" star Seth Rogen has landed deals to executive produce "The Green Hornet" for Columbia Pictures alongside his frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg, Variety has confirmed.

Columbia Pictures Stung By "Green Hornet"

It's time for the classic crime-fighting hero to get a big screen treatment. Columbia Pictures, through its presidents of production Matt Tolmach and Doug Belgrad, has announced on March 20 that it will transform the masked man's tale into a film feature.

Titled "The Green Hornet" just like the character's name, the picture will be produced by Original Film and Neal H. Moritz from whom Columbia optioned the film rights, which he had obtained from Green Hornet Inc. Meanwhile, Original's Ori Marmur will oversee development of the project on behalf of Moritz's production company.

Driven by the murder of a close friend and the realization that his media empire is infested with ruthless heroin smugglers, Britt Reid, as the masked crime-fighter and his human weapon Kato jump into action on a heart-pounding quest to rid the city of this mob once and for all.
