Yes, the Fox release again rules in its second round on the box office during the four-day weekend ended Monday, January 1, 2007, pulling a superb number of $48.2 million ($ 36.8 million for Friday-Sunday earnings) to once more put its rival "The Pursuit of Happyness" on number two for the inspiring tale scores far below at $25.4 million ($19.4 million) in its third spin on the chart.

December 26, 2006 10:12:00"Night at the Museum" rules the holiday weekend, becoming favorite among moviegoers. The action comedy family flick leads the US box office, ruling at the top spot with $30.8 million according to studio estimates Sunday Dec 24th.
Starring Ben Stiller as a guard at a museum where exhibits come alive at night, the flick exceeded expectations for 20th Century Fox, which had been counting on a bit more than $20 million. Following in at the 2nd spot is "The Pursuit of Happyness" with $15 million. Sylvester Stallone's "Rocky Balboa" debuts at No. 3 with $12.5 million over the weekend.

"Eragon" Wins Out Over "Casino" Internationally

Already made a satisfying debut as the runner-up on weekend domestic box office, youth-slanted fantasy adventure "Eragon" now proudly claims the top spot of weekend foreign box office of the same period for sure.
Selling $30.1 million worth of tickets in 76 territories, the flick thereby ends the four-week reign of "Casino Royale" which has to go down slightly to number two after taking up a handful of $20.7 million from 64 markets. However, the amount appears to be more than enough to finally break the $271 million Bond film record set by "Die Another Day" as this latest installment of 007 series has garnered $280 million internationally in its total.

Scheduled to open in theaters on December 15 this year, "Eragon" is an adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same title which actually is the first part of the Inheritance trilogy written by California-born author Christopher Paolini. Jeremy Irons, Sienna Guillory, Djimon Hounsou, and John Malkovich are starring with newcomer Edward Speleers taking the lead as the titular character.
