Jessica Alba to Replace Rose McGowan in 'Barbarella'
July 07, 2008 10:07:14One Hollywood speculation often leads to another. That is just exactly what happens with the upcoming "Barbarella" remake. Following the rumor that director Robert Rodriguez has split from his fiancee, Rose McGowan, who is also the leading lady of the movie, an unconfirmed news concerning an interesting casting report broke out.
Sparked initially by Perez Hilton awhile back, the speculation that the 34-year-old former "Charmed" actress will be replaced by another beauty Jessica Alba has heated even more recently. In the latest report on the matter, British's Sunday Mirror noted that the latter actress has been given the Jane Fonda's famous 1968 role. Reasoning the recasting was done due to the split as well as the difficulties in finding studio's founding with McGowan in the lead role, the tabloid also quoted a source giving hint on Alba's involvement, "Now Rose is out of the picture, Jessica is perfect - she's gorgeous and can be a badass on screen."

Debunking Rumors, Rose McGowan Still Robert Rodriguez's 'Barbarella'
April 12, 2008 12:04:32Answering to the rumors claiming that Universal Pictures didn't want her in the forthcoming sci-fi action remake "Barbarella", Rose McGowan came clean about the matter. To MTV News, the co-star of Alyssa Milano in television series "Charmed" revealed that the speculation hold no truth in it and that she will still take the titular character in the movie.
In an interview with the music network, the "Grindhouse" actress expressed her annoyance to the rumor that she might be replaced by bigger Hollywood actresses, such as Jessica Alba or Nicole Kidman. "[The news that I was out] was really irritating because I know all the people over there and obviously it wasn't true. It was very malicious and there was no proof," the 34-year-old actress commented. "Oftentimes these things have basis in truth but this didn't. I have contracts to prove it."

A remake of the 1968 sci-fi adventure of the same title starring Jane Fonda as the titular character, the project is said to present a different concept from the original in depicting the heroine, putting her as a modern woman surviving in a futuristic world through her intelligence, fighting skills, and sexuality instead.
