'Astro Boy' Lands in L.A. for Premiere

A week shy of its theatrical release, "" has got a red carpet treatment for its Los Angeles premiere. Held Monday, October 19, the special screening event took place at Mann Chinese 6 and was made merry with the attendance of a life-size Astro Boy to greet the stars upon their arrivals at the red carpet.

Three of the major voice cast, , and , were spotted attending the premiere and posing with the Astro Boy for the press. While who provides voice to Dr. Tenma wasn't seen around, other voice cast members like , Madeline Carroll, and Sterling Beaumon were present.

New 'Astro Boy' Clip Offers Battle With Peacekeeper

More than two weeks prior to the theatrical release of "", Summit Entertainment has released another brand new clip for viewing pleasure. Put out via Yahoo! Movies, the less than one minute snippet features the scene wherein the young robot meets his giant foe, Peacekeeper, and discovers that he is well equipped to defend himself.

Prior to the release of this clip, two other clips had been brought forth. One sees Astro in a high-speed chase around the Metro City to avoid capture after just learning that he is different from the other kids. The other one reels in the footage where he is thrown into a gladiator arena and is forced to face off against bigger and meaner robots.

Apple has got a hold of a brand new clip for "". Coming out weeks away from the theatrical release of this CG-animated film, the one-minute plus snippet is titled "The Robot Games" and sees Astro Boy inside a gladiator ring facing off a bigger and meaner robot. Although in the beginning he refuses to battle the robot, he soon caves in to the thought of saving his life.

Astro Boy is a young robot with super strength, x-ray vision, unbelievable speed and the ability to fly. Created by a brilliant scientist named Tenma, he is initially made to replace the son Tenma has lost. But, when Tenma figures out that the existence of Astro couldn't mend his grieving heart, he sends the robot away.

Coming out via Moviefone, the nearly four minutes footage opens with the young robot realizing that he is different, before he is quickly thrown into a high-speed chase around the city.

Set in futuristic Metro City, this movie follows a young robot with incredible powers. Astro is created by a brilliant scientist to replace the son he lost, but when the scientist finds out the robot couldn't mend his grieving heart, he sends Astro away. Alone and rejected, the young robot embarks on a journey in search of acceptance where he experiences betrayal and gets into a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he finally returns to save Metro City and reconcile with the scientist.

Summit Entertainment has finally come up with a full trailer for its upcoming "". Found at MSN, the two-minute more sneak peek provides a look at the construction of Astro Boy, the first meeting between the robot boy and Cora, and the danger Astro has to face when President Stone lays his eyes on him. It also gives a taste of the comedic touch given to the CGI animated feature.

After previewing new trailer for "" at San Diego Comic Con 2009, Summit Entertainment released six fresh images from the CGI adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's manga. A number of the newly-outed stills feature first look at three of the film's characters, 's Dr. Tenma, 's Dr. Elefun and 's President Stone.

Aside from the revelation of those characters, some other shots from the movie are also shared. One of them sees Astro soaring above Metro City, another captures the boy robot being scanned, and the rest highlight on Peacekeeper. In addition to the pictures, Summit's also updated the official "Astro Boy" website with an interactive timeline, tracing Astro Boy's near 60 year history.

In the big screen version of Osamu Tesuka's manga, Astro Boy will apparently get one sassy friend. , the actress who fills the voice of the sassy friend, brings the matter into public attention when discussing with Sci Fi Wire about her animated character in 3-D animated movie "".

"I play Cora, who is a girl who befriends Astro when he comes down from Metro City onto the surface of Earth," 28-year-old Bell revealed. The actress, who confessed of having no idea about the manga until she worked on the project, moreover described her character, saying "She runs a little kind of like Peter Pan group of kids. She's pretty tough, pretty sassy."

A brand new featurette for "" has made its way out via Sina. Clocking in at more than three minutes, the featurette first presents the Astro Boy character as The Icon comparing it to Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse while giving background facts of the character which has been inducted into The Robot Hall of Fame.

Halfway through the video, the in-development movie is introduced by showing the filming process of the CGI animation. The footage then continues by displaying the characters side-by-side with the actors hired to voice them. Nearing the end of the featurette, actor who is set to lend his voice to Dr. Tenma shares a few words about the movie.

Another teaser trailer of "" has been uncovered by Summit Entertainment. Exposed via Hulu, this sneak peek into the CGI animated feature film has shared even more than the first teaser, giving away more scenes and footage from the movie.

Aside from the teaser trailer, a new promo image from the movie has been released. Debuted by MTV Splash Page, the fresh one-sheet promo still displays a black and blue silhouette of the young robot. The only light seen in the pic comes from the sophisticated machine planted in the place of Astro Boy's heart.

Two brand new images of "" have been making their way out. Courtesy of Ain't It Cool News, the fresh photos display the young robot, Astro Boy, and his sworn enemy named Peacekeeper separately.

The picture of Astro Boy exhibits the boy-looking robot flying in between buildings in Metro City. Meanwhile, the Peacekeeper's image presents the baddie, who has the ability to absorb energy and powers of other robots, showing off his power.

Production Shut Down Rumor of 'Astro Boy' Straightened

Though earlier rumors suggested that "" has been shut down because of cash flow problems, the CG animated movie is still on the course to be released on the planned date. Addressing the issue to IO9, Imagi U.S. president Erin Corbett claimed that the studio's priority is to make sure that the feature film adaptation of the Japanese anime will see the big screens.

Though admitting that the production has to be halted temporarily, she further noted that studio has planned to resume production as soon as the new round of financing comes in on February 3. "Our number one objective is to get back on the rails," Corbett insisted when talking about the future of the David Bowers-directed animation. "We want to do everything to get Astro Boy out the door."

Putting attention to Japanese animation or known as anime, Imagi Animation Studios has been reported to acquire rights from Japan's Tezuka Productions Company Limited to produce a new CG animated feature length motion picture titled "." The flick, set for a 2009 theatrical release, will be based on the renowned anime franchise which was initially created by Osamu Tezuka, the company has confirmed.

In bringing the project to life CG feature animation, Imagi is intending to create a vivid new version on the titular hero with production taking place in the company's state of the art Hong Kong animation studio. Meanwhile, the movie's premise will be developed into a completely new story created in Imagi's U.S studio, similar to other Imagi's productions of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "."
